Also, pleaaaase make the 10K somewhere sensible. By which I obviously mean London.
Yes. London sounds splendid. The fact that it's 300+ miles away for us North of the border and me saying it's a good idea surely says something!
On the news of the PCQ change I can't help but be a little disgusted at the news. I'm happy for the attempt at trying to make our PCQs better but not when I think they won't.
Our particular vs scene had suffered recently and started picking up because the YGO one was enjoying some non-activity. I have more than a hunch that making PCQs sealed only could make it difficult for those players and maybe others to even pay! - Me and Graeme have travelled to 3 of the PCQs in Manchester at Fanboy3 and once to Karl's at Lincoln and even once to London just for the PCQ! Regardless of good results forking out £30+ just to travel is harsh without having to force the decision of not playing in sealed to save money. I mean it's another £15!
Also the potential "I got screwed by my crap packs" is not a situtation I'm looking forward to. I am aware that it won't always happen and a good player should make the most of what he is given - I said potential!
The benefits of having constructed would be rewarding those who've put the time in to test and to know their decks. This is now eliminated as well as the always nice "can drop if you're doing bad in sealed" option.
Ray I'm more than aware that you're the messenger in this case and that my words will more than likely fall in UDE Europe's deaf ears but I seriously seriously seriously don't like the decision.
And whether people want to believe it or not I don't think the money has anything to do with my disliking the decision - I started playing the game because it was fun :P
PS. I was expecting the 10k to of been sealed given past conversations with you and Gideon and I was sort of hoping for it as well. Given the PCQ structure now then when the hell am I supposed to play constructed now? City Championships? As nice as they are (and I do admit they do tickle my fancy a little) knowing that they don't lead to anything dissapoints me. I think a cry out for a National championship is in order. Can it not be organised at all? Surely you can wrangle funds from HQ if there's the demand right?!?!?
I don't understand why they wouldn't give out PC points for the City Championships.
Considering that the only way you can get PC points is either a Sealed PCQ or a $10k... there should be at least one other Constructed format way to win PC points. Day 1 of the PC is Constructed after all.
One week after the last post: Does anyone hear something new about the 10Ks in Europe? Are there any 10Ks in Europe? If yes, who has information about dates/locations? :)
If the 10K is sealed or modern age, this will be a little dispointing to me.
UDE have always said that "golden age will be an important and premiere format" but if the 10K is not golden, as erick says there will be no way at all to even get a single PC point in golden age in the UK. Mind you, if there are no Euro PCs, this doesn't really matter to lots!
As for a location for the 10K, London or Edinburgh are pretty good for everyone. They are a cheap Sleazyjet from most places in the country.

Seconded.
Also for those not in the know sleazyjet = easyjet :P
i wouldnt be bothered if the 10k was modern age but if it was sealed i dont know if i would go or not lol
anyways im with tpueful im really not happy that its sealed only pcqs and we aint getting much with the city champs i really was happy with the dual format if you blew it in sealed you could go to constructed
now theres no constructed which kinda screws us in the longterm
It may well be as cheap if not cheaper for Europeans to get to manchester. It has a major airport as well as other airports near by in Liverpool etc.
A lot of the no frills airlines fly to Manchester and Liverpool, and travel within the city is cheaper than in London, as well as accomodation and food.
