...I know why "I" wouldn't want it to show and it's because every discussion about OP quickly degenerates into a pissing contest about who is owed more money, how long they've had to wait for it, how bad the latest VS set is and waaaaa!
"Waaaaa!" about sums it up for me...
Unfortunately, the Realms gods say that I must spread some reputation around before repping akugyaku again... :( Dang you, and your Jank-Sauciness!
One more thing to take into consideration is that in Scott's last update (the one I mistakenly posted as "new" on Sunday, though it came out on Friday) he mentioned that VsSystem.com would have regular OP updates on their forums.

So really, a new OP Forum on VSRealms would just be a mirror of UDE's very own OP Forum and likely wouldn't be as thorough.

Also means it would do essentially the same thing as an OP Forum on Realms in terms of forwarding that discussion elsewhere. In this case into the MOST productive area, a place where the UDE people are definitely watching and asking people for their opinions on these subjects.
I feel that once UDE has their own OP forum, they'll pay much more attention to it than a redundant one. UDE adding an OP Forum is saying "bring the discussion to us, we want to help" We shoudn't have to make them work harder by looking in two different spots.
It kinda depends on the time scale. If the official VS site forum is going to be up in 6 months then I could see a need for a intermediary forum now. Once the official one opens VS realms could direct OP questions there instead.
Also, a lot depends on how strictly the official forum will be moderated. The official UFS board, whilst being a good source of information, is unpopular among several people I know due to the level of moderation. I believe that VS realms has it about right and if the official VS forums are too tightly controlled it could mean there was still a place for more open discussion of VS OP.
Essentially, the official VS site can complement VS realms rather than replacing it.
EDIT: Before anyone asks where I got the 6 months figure from its a what if that I just came up with. I realize that Scott said that the site would go live in time for Sidney but that doesn't necessarily mean every aspect of the site.

The timeline given was that the site would be up in time for PC Syndey.
Don't know how long after their forum will go up [or if it will go live with the initial site] so that's a factor there.
As for moderation ... odds are that it would become the 'Dear UDE' section of the site. I guess if people want to complain or speculate continously about OP issues that it might be moderated off their site ...
I think anything related to VS should be on the New Threads area on the front page, regardless of aversion to "negativity".
Another Realms is supposed to be non-VS related therefore it gets no such exposure.
Sadly there is already precedent in the European section which does not appear on the latest threads section of the front page. I don't know whether the decision to gather all the European threads in one place that wouldnt show up elsewhere was decided to help organise the information and make it easier to find or to hide it away where it wouldn't bother anyone but it seems to have done both to a certain extent. For those of us that know about it it is a useful forum that has had some UDE Europe involvement which has helped but I still occasionally find people who frequent realms and would be interested in the information but don't know its there.
I would not want the same thing to happen to discussion and information about OP in general.
WaKO: Sorry you were too fast for me. I went back to edit what I had said as I read it to try to counter what was obviously going to be the come back but you got there before me... :p Regarding moderation, its one thing to remove constant speculation or complaint but its another to delete posts that are polite and to the point but express any view the company wouldnt want to be associated with. The UFS official forum does (or at least did) this.
I haven't received any warnings on VS realms as of yet, so the content and tone of my posts can't be too out of line, but I know for a fact that several of my posts would have been deleted and possibly resulted in me getting warned or banned on the UFS forum, as I have seen very similar posts that have gotten this treatment. I don't personally believe that the official VS forum will be this tight arsed but I won't rule it out just yet.
See - I'm a big fan of clicking 'Menu' at the top of the Realms pages - it pulls down a list of stuff. One of those is 'Today's Posts.' That's the way to go. That tells you which forum the post belongs to, as well.
