sorry i just dont get it...how does playing over load #### yourself?
You misunderstood.
He meant that one of the reasons overload is/was broken is because it didn't come with a drawback like ahmed's "%5-%30" chance of instantly losing you the game.
But in regards to the thread I think the banned list should at least be lifted for the BYOS 10k. Nothing is really that broken in its own set. If the list was lifted for that format Dr.Light and GLEE couldn't totally dominate because CE would pack Overload. Frankie and Valeria might still draw some cards but what are they drawing to in MHG.
As long as Beatdown and Flying Kick are there, along with Bastion pitching army sentinels, then fetching them back with Avalon and reconstruction program, and cover fire to keep you alive until 6, I would say that Overload is a bit broken in its own set.
The difference with Ahmed and Overload is you don't have like a 5-33% chance of entirely ####ing yourself everytime you play Overload.

I'd say it's about a 0.01% chance that your opponent actually has a way to negate Overload and thus have you not only waste the attack pumps, but would have given your opponent's character some attack pumps in an attack that would resolve.
So definately, much less likely for an opponent to stop an Overload and have it be bad for you, and even then the 'problem' it causes is less disastrous that instantly losing the game.
Avengers, more often than not, isn't gonna be hurt much by Overload. AGL, they need a Cosmic Conflict and another pump just on their 1 DROP to be in Overload territory. Their characters are naturally big. Squad, same deal, Joystick is naturally big, so is Shape, Melissa, Lady Lark, and Albert Gains<>Nuke.
Overload is an amazing card in Golden and hurts whatever weenies there are left (as if Flame Trap, Political Pressure, Total Anarchy, and others weren't enough). Although it hurts High Voltage a bit, Voltage is containable now anyway. Human Torch ftw!
Walter... That was my point exactly. :) Ahmed has a HUUUGE drawback that I've seen kill Checkmate decks (and even just playing Christopher Smith instead can have that effect) in about... I don't know... 2 out of every 7... Maybe closer to 1/4th or 1/6th... of games I've seen. And it's not just like... "Oh, I'm behind" it's "Oh, I lose."
Overload gets you pot committed, Ahmed is moving all in on the chip leader.
Overload isn't a rare, and in the Random Punks tournament, there are insanely huge low drops that should be able to be overloaded. They are the type of degeneration the card existed to combat in the first place.
I think Overload was really good, but not any more ban worthy than say the damn fate artifacts or ahmed. Ahmed is currently being teamed up with any old thing that could use reliable search or locations. That and his own team has a card that removes his loss condition from even being an issue. There are just too many outs for him, and if his effect wasn't worth the insanely smaller risk that your opponent just might be able to K.O. him, almost no one would play him.
Ahmed though creates actual games. I mean, Ahmed is NOT like a Quicksilver deck or any random infy combo. The games usually go to at least turn 7 if not 8 with a Checkmate deck. So, there are numbers of chances to take it down. And, there's actual back and forth player interaction. While I could see Overload being helpful in Random punks, do we really wanna make Golden Age that much worse just for a Hobby League tournament? I don't think so.

In formats other than Random Punks..indeed this would be a huge drawback. However, in Random Punks Yancy Street + cloak makes him nearly impossible to kill. There is no location hate outside of characters in this format. And without a direct 3 or less KO effect while he's non-stunned Yancy Street saves Ahmed. In Random Punks its highly unlikely he'll lose you the game. Unless you replay him...then that would be silly ;)
So when I Mansion or Heroes In Reserve my attacker/defender and my opponent auto-stuns me... that's doesn't hurt?
Or when I attack with my 7/6 Panther, I can't play a pump at all?
The problem with Overload is that it deters people from doing what the core of the VS engine was meant to do... attack and defend.
Uh...dude, we're talking about Random Punks here. If you Avengers Mansion your Black Panther...trouble isn't far behind ^.^. Panther is a problem but otherwise, Hawkeye/Druid are still big, Dane is still Dane, although he's Overload bait. And, if Rick Jones is getting Overloaded, you shouldn't be freakin' pumping him anyway, ^.^.
