i had an awesome time at the event. it was my first real tournament other than the first city championship. i was just hoping not to embarrass myself and ended up getting as high as table 3 in round 6. i finished the weekend at 6-7, which i was happy with, even though i wanted a winning record. i finished the weekend at 52nd place. hopefully i can make it to indy, but the way it looks i doubt it.
Worlds was simply amazing. Sure I didn't get any where near a winning record in any of the events I played in but I met amazing people. Oh and I curse Orange_Soda_Man for beating me and getting to choose the Total Anarchy mat instead of the Thor one.
and that TA mat is sitting right next to me, in its case serving as a mini table mat. mwahaha. =p
OSM, you are a cool dude man... it was good to put face to the personalities here on the realm.
Worlds was awesome: you got everything from Giant Pokemon(for real - they were so huge that they had to be escorted just in case they lost their balance LoL).
Great side events with at least 50+ participants and of course it's Origins - people in Ohio take their gaming seriously.
Did'nt do as well as I expected, but still had a blast. I actually won some free prizes so I should'nt be able to complain right. Please - how come everytime there was something else free to win, it was always the table next to me playing for it: argghhhhh...
Can not wait for the next event: Thanks UDE
P.S. TBS should change his name to GunslingerX because he can play - I'm just warning yall
Whole trip was awesome, made even better by rolling up there with an awesome crew to meet all the awesome VS players. Was rather disturbed by lossing my last three games in a row on day one to go 3-4 but it was luckily made up on day two by winning a TA mat (by going smacky the fastest) and the entire MEX in the silver tournament then netting a loss to TBS himself in sealed. Was a close game... coulda had him and he is seriously a great guy. Yeah definitely took full advantage of random loot despite lossing out day one
but less pretty foil makes everything better (except 6 drop joker from DCL... seriously his whole face was reflective), friend of ours go an uncut sheet of DCL commons i think it was too
Worlds was awesome. I went in with a simple plan - have fun playing cards (and maybe try to day 2). I came out with a 2nd place finish, and tons of cool stuff. I don't know if I had a run of good luck, or my opponents had a run of bad, or both! I plan on posting a lot more about my experience, and about all of the cool people I met. The thing is, our family vacation started yesterday, so I have limited email access, and not much time to post. In fact, the wife and kids had to go visit family for a few hours while I decided my fate on Sunday! The more I replay that final game in my head, the more I wonder if I could have done something differently to win. (More on that in future posts).
I had a great time. Many thanks to UDE, the players, the judges, the match reporters, and everyone else that made Worlds a great event.
Oh, and that Two-Face original art is some sweet. I know Brian had a tough choice in picking the Ra's. Any suggestions on how to display it? My wife suggested a shadow box type effect, with the actual card included in the display.
