It still can't deal damage to characters with Stop Clicks and Damage reducers either.
Like... please fix this wizkids. At least let us pulsewave these stupid retaliators if we can get a chance. They only have 1 click, and they are immune to the thing that only does 1 click. Monsters.
And they haven’t cut down on STOP click figures either.
Im super happy with this though I think it should just mirror Quake and do 2 damage max.
It was a radial attack since day one so single targeting anything shouldnt have made it concentrated damage in my opinion on one figure. That's what pen/psy was for.

Pulsewave used to make a OMA a viable option. Now they are merely liabilities. Sad state of affairs. So long as all those NEW unicorns love it I suppose.

Wow, seriously? There was nothing but NOTHING that could WRECK an OMA like getting hit with single-target Pulse Wave. I gladly give up the chance to nuke some poor schmuck with un-reduceable, un-evadeable, non-transferrable, "nyah nyah, you can't do anything about it so suck it down" massive damage in return for never having to worry about being so nuked myself again.

I agree that I think the change makes more sense and will be better going forward. I feel bad for the damage done to all the past figures, so I understand that argument, but PW was too strong and didn't make sense before, IMO. After the hurt fades, I think this will be better.
And for figures like Human Torch and Black Bolt, it is easy to design figures now that have SPs that do more damage. But with single target? I've seen Black Bolt single target Hulk with a blast (but they were in hand to hand so you could also just call that limiting his range to 1) but I don't think I've seen a focused nova blast. Then again, with 60 years of history and knowing how comics work, I'd be amazed if Human Torch hasn't pulled it off before.

Instead, all a OMA has to worry about now is getting out-actioned with a rule set that favors swarm teams even more
I've been spending a lot of time going back through older rules because I'm that kind of guy, and I've fallen in love with Dungeons again. Reading those rules, seeing where Pulse Wave came from, it's clear that initially it was intended to do one Pushing damage to everyone it hit, and in a case of there only being one target, that is just does printed damage [so basically a single-target PW was really just a regular ranged attack]. I'm not sure exactly where and when it got changed to single-target damage being straight through, but I feel like the original design was probably the best one.
And, I mean, that sort of is how it is now, really.
Lost in this conversation is that Pulse Wave does have other effects beyond the damage now. Any pieces inside of the pulse wave will have all their powers with ongoing durations (that don't have an explicit or implicit "even if lost") expire.
5 perplexers? Pulse Wave them and their perplexes are all expired now.
That falls more on abusive dial design than the actual powers. Same thing that can be applied to the “at no cost” mechanic (They could have just stopped making figures with continuous loops like Prime Vulture instead of forcing a bunch of individual figures to be errata’d with the 2021 rule change). Those powers and mechanics become OP when game design is always finding ways to circumvent balance. There isn’t a need for so many figures to have running shot with pulse wave or damage higher than 3. Yet that basically became the norm. There should only be a select few figures to get high damage and pulse wave (Human Torch with his Nova Blast for example or Black Bolt). There should be even less who get running shot, pulse wave, and high damage.
Feats often provide good answers. What if we gave full damage back but it cost the figure using it damage to themselves to do so? That way you can't just cripple the other guy and then just do it again.
I got hit with a Pulse Wave/Incap combo right after the rules change that was extra annoying. I moved my whole team up and thought I had a decent hiding place. Turns out I was wrong and all my figures ended up with all these tokens on turn 2.

That's an interesting perspective. Two powers people say got nerfed working well together but what figures have both powers? That would have to be a special power of involve a trait or something I guess.
I was never a fan of equipment & relics. Why do I have a feeling the answer is Spidey's web shooters?
