That being said, if you can convince me that two-team decks will still be more prevelant (and proportionately viable) in casual play than mono-team decks in an environment with Mobilize and without EomE, I will willingly give up EomE ... in every age.
Well we've all been debating back and forth here for what ... 2 and a half days now?
I'm going to get some sleep - in fact given how sick I am I probably should have hit the sack a good while ago. Hopefully they announce this "change-to-the-ban-list" on Monday.
The general trend for decks with search of late is towards 10 tutors. With Enemy banned straight slaughter will give access to a toolbox for decks that need one, and only 2 team decks with tutoring in both teams or decks with mobilize + a quality on team tutor will be played. As much as people complain about enemy, without enemy there isn't enough search for most teams to be played.
Also enemy lets two-team decks actually hit their key theme drop. Losing games to missing Doom (4) or Ahmed(3) is the most frustrating way to lose. Those games are basically games of solitaire where your opponent does what they want and you sit there and lose (in some cases slowly). Yes you sometimes come back from these draws but they usually involve and opponent imploding. Because these are the least fun games to lose its better to have stuff that makes these rare.
The following teams have what I would classify as a reasonable search card:
Brotherhood (Sovereign Superior)
Doom (Faces of Doom, Mask of Doom)
Hellfire Club (Join the Club!)
Legionnaires (New Recruits)
Masters of Evil (Mystic Summons)
Morlocks (Bloodhound)
Squadron Supreme (Answer The Call)
i dont understand how you can include these tutor and not include Avengers with Avengers Assemble.
titans- optiron, tameran garden, titans of tomorw
legion- new recruits
green lantern- the ring has chosen, emerald dawn
Avengers- avengers assemble
JLI- un general assembly
JLA- Heroes welcome
Society- sraight to the grave, leader by example
Injustice gang- secret files
villans united- badest of the bad
INhumans- great refuge, lockjaw
Doom- mask of doom, faces of doom
fantatsic 4- signal flare
marvel knights- wild ride
gothem knights- batsignal
morlocks-blood hound
hellfire club- join the club
brotherhood- soverin suprior
chekmate- brother eye satalite
shadow pact- dective chimp
team superman- lois lane, man of tomorw
new gods- the exchange
darkseid- born in blood/the exchange
Heralds of galactus- creation of a herald
this is a parial list there are probly some im mising, these are all pretty direct character tutors, so the idea that without enemy there isnt any search is crazy.
if you include Titans, you need to include Manhunters. the Manhunters have Manhunter Space Craft, which is effectively the same card as Optitron.
but i do dissagree that either Titans or Manhunters have "effective" search. the fact you have to pay a resouce point means you have underdrop that turn. Titans are somewhat effective at doing this, but it is usually not what you want to do.
but remember, titans as a mono team can STILL use moblize, yes moblize is there for any mono team.
what enmey of my enemy allows is you to cherry pick the best drop at each level of the curve and play a conjumbled mess of teams. THats one of the things i liked about this game is that each team was dynamic in its own way and that you could team up teams with synergy to make a good deck. Instead you had the garbage that was PC San Fran, with enemy around.
I wouldnt count mask/ faces of doom as a search for the doom team. It gets the good Doctor, but shouldnt count as team search cards.
i think you will still find Moblize as a very effective tutor for a mono doom deck. Otherwise, dr doom is avalibe at drops 3,4,6,7,8 hopfully you dont need to tutor for a character every turn.
That being said, if you can convince me that two-team decks will still be more prevelant (and proportionately viable) in casual play than mono-team decks in an environment with Mobilize and without EomE, I will willingly give up EomE ... in every age.
1) Shooting for two tutors is likely to be common. Bloodhound is better, for example, in Morlocks/SF. Same for all tutors that cost less than 3, really. MK, IG, VU maybe...
2) Another team will almost always add a lot. No team has a great curve by itself. Brotherhood, Fantastic Four, Titans and Sentinels have been mono before, right? Oh, and Avengers. Mutant Nation, Common Enemy, The Brave and the Bold... Sentinels always splashed... and Brotherhood/Avengers is decent. And that's ignoring the teams that do NOT work well mono.
3) A lot of teams (especially the newer ones) are /made/ to team-up. VU, Checkmate, etc. all have a strong ability to make other teams they work with better while largely sucking mono. (Inhumans especially fit this mold).
Of course, I don't think anything will end mono team decks in casual. In casual play, people LIKE to play mono, even when it sucks. It's thematic.
