In fact, most of the most competitive pieces are by far the least comic accurate (i.e. Nightcrawler).
I like this Darkseid. I know he will be much tougher to take down than most are giving him credit for. And I know many people malign the loss of the Outwit+Perplex SP, but his starting attack and damage values are both +1 higher anyway. And the bonus to be able to push and be unoutwittable is a good tradeoff.
That and having both the CR version and this new version will give you plenty of variety when deciding your team builds.
I totally agree. When presented with multiple versions of the same character I like options. I don't think he or CR Darkseid are better or worse than one another, just different. I don't consider this one a must have, but only because I have the CR one. But I certainly wouldn't be sad to find him in my collection.
1) He can carry 3. That's MM fodder.
2) One of those can shoot or move-and-attack, or just move for tie-up.
3) MM and Q make it unoutwittable
4) He has hsi own Outwit on top of that.
5) He has very long range meaning this could be happening far from his opponent
6) He has phasing to reposition (with fodder, still) if he has to.
I do agree that it's a very bad day if he's naked on top without having crippled the other team already. But the odds are stacked in his favor that that's not going to happen.
TK+RS/PW is a serious thing for him to contend with. But with the fodder, that's likely to put him 1 click in, on his 18 IMP, which is not so bad.
In Golden Age he has to deal with Nova Blast, but in Golden Age all sorts of crazy things happen.
Darkseids main weakness is that in a 300 point game he is just about all of your points...
Just to weigh in on Darkseid, he looks awesome! That opening Mastermind + Q is a nasty combination. The Carry + give-an-action-to-the-carried-clix is pretty dang nasty too! On the flip side, however, the fact that he now can't turn off his TA to push to click two may end up hurting him in some games.
He doesn't look like he is going to be anywhere near as tough in sealed though. No move and attack (at all) and opening Mastermind should prove to be a big crutch in that environment. He sure does look like fun though and brings a whole new style to Modern Age!
Lastly, and most importantly, Congratulations to everyone in the Emerson family! Enjoy your new arrival!

Agreed, but again if you've played extensively against Thanos you're aware that a Quintessence figure with a long range and phasing is, odds are, better at repositioning than you. Time you take to base Darkseid is time you're not attacking too, and his fodder is.
Okay, but "holds up in a competitive environment" and "what he is capable of in comics" are nearly mutually exclusive. They are not complementary goals, anyway, at least on someone his size, because to do what he can do in comics he should be like 600 points and something that size is by definition never going to be in a competitive environment at all.
"Holds up in a competitive environment" and "Haven gives a smelly rat's backside about it" are nearly mutually exclusive.
Also, hearing they ruined the Straw Dogs remake :-/
Is it a remake?
THAT should have been your first hint.
I saw Apes a week or so ago, and while it was a VAST improvement on the standard shlock that gets thrown our way these days, I felt it was overhyped.
But Apes wasn't Battle For or Conquest Of remade.
It was a new take on an old film series and that was fine.
But if you watch the original gun-totin' Heston cursing Ape-fest, you'll see what's missing from cinema these days. The use of camera angles to imply perspective, the use of subtlety in dialogue, action and plot and above all the lack of the over-done Hollywood oil pan slickness that makes everything that happens too overblown to be true.
It's so obvious to me when they bend the laws of physics just because it will look "cooler".
Regardless, got to get to bed. I have to be up in six hours so I can drive three more to play some clix!

I'm at the intermission of End Of Evangelion, and... Damn.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Unit 02's death scene is one of the most brutal things I have ever seen on film. That whole fight scene was nauseating.
I honestly can't even guess where this is going. I love that feeling. Hope it doesn't disappoint.
Edit: Okay, I liked this ending a lot more. It's been a long time since a movie had me on the edge of my seat like that. Throughout like the entire thing. I'll watch the new movies over the next few days I suppose.

Many of the posts in the Darkseid thread are why Ogres either need to overrun GD and beat down Trolls, or stay out of GD altogether.
People can't just have a different opinion from you. They can't see things from a different point of view. Hell, they can't even just be wrong; they must be a moron as well and you must use words to that effect when replying to them.
So...I think I mentally destroyed a 13 year old boy tonight. Should I feel bad?
I really don't at all
That's the first step toward the world of Dexter Morgan. Save your soul by rebuilding that boy's confidence.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
Ah! I'd seen the trophy pic in passing yesterday, noted the technique, but throught maybe someone had just copied the style.

I hope you have a good time with it!
The next away-from-home Clix games I have on my schedule will be the charity event at Epic Con on October 1st. I'm hoping to get in a home game or two between now and then, though.
Depending on the timing, once my Superman case arrives I'm thinking I may try to do what I did with one or two cases along the way and try to do a home "sealed" event soon after. I'll want to dig into the case immediately to see what I pulled, but mainly to see what I pulled that I don't want so I can move to sell or trade them away while interest in the set is highest. Beyond that, though, I'd keep the boosters essentially intact, re-closing the boxes so that in the short term we could do 2-booster draws, etc.
I've tried to get more into this set - I have a case coming, after all - but I can't recall a DC or Marvel set I've had less enthusiasm for. We're less than 2 weeks away from it and I'm almost alarmed at how pre-bored I am.
