Cause some writers are smoking way too much of the illegal substances? Hell, they rewrote the tale of Kandor yet again for this storyline.
Actually, Allura set Zod free from the zone because after the short war with the people of Earth, and setting up a New Krypton on the opposing side of the sun (think "Counter-Earth"), Allura realized she needed a strong military leader for her people. She needed someone to rule by her side. She picked Zod.
Seriously, although I know I'm right, I'll play by the rules and await official confirmation.
And IgMo, Wildcat never trained the Atom that I know of; but I think you could have been technically correct with the original Star-Spangled Kid, Power Girl, and Starman Jack Knight.
Eh, it was a slow day and the boss is out of town on business and won't be back till next Saturday. Only the book keeper lurks around here. And I can't do much work with her around, she likes to suddenly pop-in and investigate my office and use my scanner/printer. I get so little peace with her constant need to know everything, tho almost none of it concerns her own work. And when she's not in here bugging me, shes in her own office playing solitaire on her laptop. It's like an annoying neighbor who keeps trespassing into the yard thinking it's public property (yes, I had neighbors like that who insisted my yard wasn't owned by my family, but by the state, even tho it'd been in the family since the end of WW2).
Do you know the bookkeeper's extension? Whenever you hear her leave her office, count to five and then dial it on your cell phone. She'll run back to get the phone. Then hang up.
When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.
