i've got Hamachi up and running but don't see any channels, just networks (which need passwords). This is the part where i get mega confused.
I am utilizing a wireless connection thru a router, so thats my most likely problem.. may have to check that.
i will try and look into that on my own though.
but if using Hamachi allows us to bypass that nonsense, any help would be appreciated.
A network IS a channel.

Join up. I may be away from the computer though, so I might not respond. But, if you get your friend to join up to the same room, you can then play using your Hamachi IP's instead of your own computer's IP. Your Hamachi IP is right up top of the Hamachi program.

1) I did not write this program, nor can I edit it! Suggestions for improvement are noted, but unlikely to be acted upon just yet.
2) I am not affiliated in any way with Wizkids or NECA. This program is intended to catalogue information and simulate a game. It is freeware, and does not contain images of copyrighted characters or sculpts associated with Marvel, DC, or any other comic company.
3) The program also does not enforce the rules of play of the game - it simply provides an environment for play.
Known bugs:
*INDOMITABLE and SHARPSHOOTER symbols are absent - these abilities are noted, however, with the Keywords, along with any Traits.
* Figures have been known to "disappear" from the view of an opponent - to fix this, the figure should be moved to the newspaper image (trash bin), and then brought back into play (using the drop-down menu under the text window).
* IF the program isn't working: check that you haven't ended up with a sets folder inside another sets folder (or likewise for maps folder). 90% of the time this is the problem. It occurs because you've unzipped a sets folder to the wrong place. It should be located in your main folder, not in any subfolder.
HOW TO FIND GAMES:
Of course, Heroclix is more fun if you have someone to play against!
If you don't know any online players through your own contacts, you can try downloading hamachi: www.hamachi.cc
It's a program that creates a virtual network IP for you to host and connect to games on. On the following thread, you can find some existing rooms http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=219380
Scroll to the end of that thread to find active rooms to join.

we are both on now, with this channel/network business behind me... but alas still no HCOL
Is there a specific reason Hamachi is used and not just some general chat room people to hang out in while using people's real IP addresses?
Yes - see the troubles of the poster right above.
In general Hamachi is good for people who don't know how to do port forwarding (and since all routers are different, that's hard to write a manual for). This is a substantial number of folks, maybe more than half of all the folks I see online playing.
That being said, I don't love Hamachi and the way everyone is limited to 16-person channels.

And I am always looking for an alternative to Hamachi. Something free (or very cheap) that can do away with having to make new chat groups. And, let everyone who plays clixs share the same room.
Husband, Father, and Retired Herclix player. Still collecting clixs that I like.
Hey, Crow!
Over on the 'Clix released for iPhone' thread, Thedishon and absolutvt69 are doing a fantastic job in getting their terrific app as thorough and complete as possible, and were looking for the keywords to the promo pieces (IC Spidey, HT Batman, LE Johnny Alpha). There ARE no keywords for Spidey and Bats, but LE Johnny has the Future and Warrior keywords, and I can't remember the source document where I found this info... I'm asking you because you also have them listed in HCOL, and I was wondering if you remembered where those keywords were officially listed...
I think I'll go start a formal thread next...
Thanks for any help you can offer, and for all the hard work you put into HCOL!

They're hosted right there in HCRealms's own Units section. Just click "Units" up top and look for "unrestricted keywords" in the rules documentation section. Promo Johnny's in there.

D'ohp! Thank you, sir. More rep! Yeesh. Gotta look closer in the future... Insert face, remove egg...
Thanks again. Take care,

How about we add just one more layer and have some sort of permanent chat room, where players can then arrange to use Hamachi?
I know it sort of adds a hoop, but I think a centralized room would seem more... live and might promote play more?
I've actually tried it once via a chat room on my website... but I got very little response. There just aren't many users to begin with. Still, I'm up for trying again if you want to take the initiative.

As you can see from the front page, an official product is on its way. Naturally I'm expecting some turbulence, and who knows what form it will take, but I want to thank all of you who have enjoyed the HCOL freeware and for the hundreds of games and fun I've had personally.
I'm planning at least one more update: the GSX set, of course, and to give it some added bang, 20 new maps! The official program may have sweet 3D graphics, but this old horse now will have in excess of 180 maps and every figure in existence. My hope is that the Internet is big enough for the both of them... we'll see.
I for one will be happy to game anywhere, anytime, online.
In the meantime, we will "at least" require a name change. Any ideas?
