Land of the Lost had some big concepts and solid science fiction writing, hampered by cheap production and juvenile sat. morning thinking.
It could have been re-made into a great movie franchise.
Instead, they gave it to Will Farrel.
I've heard this before and I don't disagree. It was innovative for its time with a stronger mythos than anything before along with the idea of story arcs.
But you made one HUGE mistake in your critique. You didn't mention the "acting", and that's the biggest reason that I couldn't stand it upon rewatch.

My favorite part of Evil Dead the Musical? Ash and the other dude just saw something really freaky, and broke out into a song that started with the chorus which went..."What the F### was that? What the F### was that?".
