You're not well-liked.
You're abrasive and off-putting.
You try and say pithy things, but your wit is a hindrance and so, therefore nothing is provocative. Just mixed metaphors.
Your penmanship is atrocious!
You dress in the manner of a male prostitute!

If I slow down I can write neatly, but I am always so wired at cons.
The rest can stand as is, although "nerd in comics t-shirt" limits my target audience quite a bit!
I'm fairly certain you've posted this as bait for me.
You may recall my FB post about the McD's drive-thru lady who said something like "Merry Christmas" to me but then immediately followed that with "I don't go in for this 'Happy Holidays' nonsense."
If you say Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, or whatever to me, I can accept that as the person offering warm wishes to me in his or her own way regardless of what my own beliefs happen to be. With so much hate in the world, I can look at that and think that it is nice for another human to extend those glad tidings to me.
Following it up with what she said, however, completely removes any genuine sentiment behind it and reveals that the person is simply attempting to make a political statement and is also a dick about doing so,
I feel (and I know you know my thoughts on this) that a major contributor to all of these shenanigans is the sensationalism of the media...on both sides.
The red cup thing...without the media blowing that crap up, that would have been just one or two extreme schmucks posting blog entries about it only to have it forgotten. Forgotten isn't even the right term as nobody would have even noticed it in the first place.
Instead someone from the media goes out and finds these kinds of posts made by a couple of nobodies and slings it to the front page with headlines like "Every single Christian in the free world is outraged over Starbucks' Chistmas snub!!!"
(I'm still not convinced that this issue wasn't orchestrated by Starbucks themselves. It could have been someone from corporate making the original outraged posts. It might have been that someone from corporate found the outraged posts and drew attention to them. It could have been a bit of both, or neither. I'm just saying that these big companies know how to market their products, and this got them a whole lot of free publicity.)
Now, of course, one cannot overlook the throngs of morons who then subsequently buy into this nonsense and in turn become incensed themselves.
Agreed on that lady. I don't like when people do that either.
I can, however, understand the motivation to behave that way. It wouldn't happen were it not for the offended class doing what they do. And I am fairly certain that we all knkw there is a significant amount of time when they are nit truly offended and just looking to make trouble.
The mother of the children that I tutored told me she signed her son up for Scouts just to make trouble for them on religious grounds. The Scouts, according to her, MAKE children choose a religion. She's one of those athiests who won't shut up about it, belittles religion in general while going on about how Christians are so bad for trying to convert people and must insert their religion into everything, not realizing she's just as bad. She does Santa for her children and I pointed out the hypocrisy to no avail. The family has representations of Buddha around the house. I told her to have him say he's Buddhist or Christian just to pick something and get past it so that he can enjoy Scouting. I also told her that if she was taking on some entity with which I did not agree I would still not agree wuth her methods. She would not relent. I never found out how it all fell out since I started steering conversations away from her petty crusades intentionally.
The point is that these people exist. If it weren't for them, your interaction with that lady would not have happened.

I searched and discovered that this is from Mystery Men, but I was initially confused as this is basically how you have described me on many occasions.

That troll lady sounds like the embodiment of what is wrong with the world.
It's pretty simple...you don't like the Scouts' policies for whatever reason? Don't join.
You should ask her if she approves of the KKK's position on race relations. If her answer is no (and hopefully it is), then you should ask her if she plans to sign her son up for membership there, too.

She said that many of her son's friends were in it, and he had a right to something or other. I think the word Monopoly was involved too.
Your point about the KKK made me smile. Thanks again.
I don't tutor for them anymore as the children are grown. But at one point, I just started asking her, 'Have you read 1984?' (She said 'Yes' but it was Cliff's Notes) Have you read The Lord Of The Flies? Have you watched The Killing Fields? Until you do, I will not speak on political subjects with you.
