I did realize again this morning that Wizkids actually living up to the SS faction trait of insane-o damage output tends to leave people complaining... diregarding the fact that its often accompanied by mediocre side-stats.
That being said, lets return to the conversation at hand ;-P
Originally posted by lonewolf420 once again the wolves get flamed along with bansons, but the good side is the ability to collect other factions while my normals are on vacation. The new abilities and special equipment are cool. more twists to the plots and strategies, what a wonderful thought
And last time it was the ROTS that were shafted. Big deal, every release someone will be left out or feel they didn't get what they deserved. Of the factions current in the system, BR and SW are the best solvent and can stand to miss a release. Next time it will be SS and probably SC. We all have to take our turns. Just take this chance to work on collecting SW units you need and any other faction units you may need. I took the break from the Republic to build two spare armies that combined with my ROTS army give me the pieces for a great cheese army. Just think of what some of the new pieces could do in a cheese army. My mouth waters.
Heck i hope SC dont get snubed in the next set, Heck we are going to lose a good portion of our best units once DA goes the way of the dodo. i think LI and possably SS will get the Base set snub, followed by SC and SH or HL in the first expansion after the new base set. But i seriously Doubt SC will get a snub in the next BS.. well atlest i hope they wont -.-
well, Falcons prey is the biggest expansion mechwarrior has seen so far... (2 new factions, 2 new special equipment, a load of faction abilities, last set with ICE mechs)
my ideas
I think that swordsworn and bannsons raider should be left out of FP.
If the next set is a base set then I think no factions should be left out.
next set Liao and either dragons fury or spirit cats depending on what we got in the previous set.
lol, perhaps. I do not think the has-been Diamond Sharks are ever going to take the spotlight in dark age. However, they are getting a novel...
But the next set will probably be similar in fashion to what Counterassault was to Liao Incursion. Another 'hunh?' situation in FP with SW getting no units, dispite being the so-called target of CJF within the Republic. Next set will have a strong precense of SW, probably regarding some counterattack against the Falcons. heh
Yeah we had a guy in the reserves living with us for a while. I had to explain to him like 4 times about Faction strength/weaknesses. He complained that SC had no Capacity 3 ransports and 2 Towed Arty pieces. He complained about the lameness of it. I pointed out that it was a SC weakness. They get 16" energy mechs, great heat dials with 3 vents and good defense but, attack values that drop off quickly. SS gets mechs with poor heats dials and or vents, low defense, but good damage. In addition they have arguably the best vehicles in the game. This person just didn't want to see that SC suffered that lack because of a bonus they got to mechs. I just hope SS gets a Marksman in a future set. Always loved the Marksman sculpt and always wanted to see it in Green/blue.

It's not so much that the Wolves got shafted that I have an issue with - it's the fact that they only recieved seven units in the set before they got left out, that's the issue that upsets me the most - only seven units spread over two sets... ah well, at least it saves me some money, for now.
One other thing that actually does tick me off considerably, however, is that the wolves get the heave-ho in a set where one of the most revered clan-type units is released - the Elementals... they release the most well-known clan-type battle armor and they leave a clan out! ~_~; Ah well. I've just really been looking forward to Steel Wolf Elementals, sometime - and I'm sure I'm not alone.

As both a SW player and a RotS player I really don't like leaving a faction out of an expansion. I'm with you, I'd love to have seen some SW Elementals, maybe we'll see some in the next set or in the next base set.
Heh, no idea - likely they'll be better than Clan Battle Armor, I'll tell you that much. Afterall, the Elementals are old-school... likely they've been upgraded a couple-few-DOZEN-times... even if they haven't, though... they'll still be worth getting simply for the sentimental value.
