Time to start convincing folks to fly over there. Could you please suggest some travel route from Berlin or Munich (i am checking Madrid-Germany flights and those two seem the only ones) to Essen?
Berlin and Munich are both not very good routes for coming to Essen.
Are there no flights to Köln/Bonn (Cologne) or Düselldorf? Both airports are much closer.
Another possibility is to travel via Hahn (Frankfurt / Hahn) with Ryan Air and take the Bus from there to Frankfurt / Main. From Frankfurt it's roughly a 2.5 hrs train ride to Essen.
You could also check if there is a flight to Airport Dortmund. It is the closest, but also the smallest airport, so the chances are slim there'll be a flight from Spain going there (except from Mallorca, I believe). But all these travveling questions should be collected on http://www.european-clix-challenge.com.
Fanpro, Wizkids LLC and Topps are proud to announce the European Clix Challenge, the first all-european tournament for your favourite Wizkids games!
To be held from May 20th-22nd 2005 in Essen, Germany, this exciting event will be an unique opportunity not only to compete with europe’s elite players in a series of challenging rounds, but also to meet lots of fellow players from neighbouring countries, exchange strategies with them, trade or just have a great time.

( So THAT'S what a Brit City Judge looks like. I've been trying to obtain some for the last 2 months or so but still hadn't seen a picture anywhere of just what they looked like. )
More power to the Euro-players!

After all my complaints against the so-called "international but US only" championship, I must say that I'm really happy to see such an event taking place (at last) in Europe.

First off, I'm glad that WK are putting on a major tourney in Europe.
I loved playing in the UK nationals in 2004, and if this Essen gig is half as good, it will be very good indeed.
However, for one of my "advanced years" and financial commitments (house / mortgage / wife / 4 children including a Clix player...) , the prospect of ANY trip out of the country is financialy non-viable...I've been to Germany (40 years ago !), to Italy (30 years ago), and to France twice (5 and 7 years ago).
However, these days I can't afford to go to London more than once a year, and even my regular Clix playing trips to Southampton are only possible 'cos another guy in the games group gives me / us a lift...
My point being, if I'M in that position as an adult wage earning person, how on earth are the 6 (very skint) teenage Clix players in the group supposed to be able to afford to go ?
I'm happy for my good Clixfriends EmporerNorton and Doc Morbius, as Germany deserves tournies too, but all this does for me is move the same problem to a different continant !
That said, it's still a good thing that WK have recognised that Europe exists (LoL). More big tournies in the UK please !

I'm sad I won't ahve the chance to meet you, Noman, but I have to stress a different point here.
This tournament is not organized by WizKids, it is organized by fans. WizKids shouldn't get the credit for this.
IF I do come (breaks out the Kevlar body suit, and the crossbow, and starts getting the plans to the Bank out the safe...) for reasons which are too tediously medical to go into, I would get a Ferry across to France (or use the Eurostar) and then train through France to the nearest point in Germany. Flying is just not to be thought off...
Is this viable ? And if it IS viable, what do people think costs of travel / accom would be like ?
Heck, I want to be there, but it's, like, FAR FAR AWAY !!!
(At least I KNOW I can't go to the USA or Canada - which is a shame - but Germany might be possible...)
AAaaargh !!! The Pain !!! (LoL)
Shreck 2 joke alert...
(Maybe if I get out this little card, and shed a tear on it...)
Okay, listen to me: You are not Mr. T!
I have to know, because I am.
I think you could get a flight for around 30 pounds (or even less, these ticket prices are crazy!), but taking the ferry and/or train would be really expensive...

LoL !
True, I am not Mr T !
There are, though, good reasons why I can't fly...(well, the Cyborg back pack is broken, for one thing...), so Boat / Train are the only options...even so, I reckon it would be do-able to Essen in about 24 - 36 hrs, if I could scare up the funds...
(Phones up old friends in the East End, calls in a few markers, tries to remember whether he ever "taught" anybody who is now wealthy / German, starts making plans of the sewer system and checking gold bullion prices...)
If you were to smuggle a backpack full of Cadburry chocolate into Germany you probably could make back your expenses and maybe more...
Just making suggestions...
