You still can't give a free action in the middle of another action.

Actually, it does explicitly state so in the rulebook (which you quoted):
"If you have more than one action available, you must resolve one action before initiating the next action. Resolving an action includes completing any free actions the action allows."
Using my previous example again that is why you cannot use Outwit to interrupt Charge, RS, or HSS. Both the move and attack components of those abilities must be completed before you can do anything else, including any extraneous free actions.

Other than that, I can't think of any Free Actions that are not used during another action (though I'm sure there might be).
Agreed. Most free actions do occur during another action but only because they are part resolving the action being taken. From my other previous example using Nanobots is not part any other action which is why you must do it before or after completing a move action. Combining both examples, you could not start a Running Shot by moving, Nanobot an object, then make your attack because you would be performing a new action before completing the one you started.
Flurry is a little trickier though because of the 'resolve the first attack before performing the next' and after further reading I can see how WK may rule that Ricochet does interrupt Flurry. It would set a precedent for interrupting actions though.

Well, the Ricochet free action is assigned to BB during the Flurry action, but it doesn't actually get resolved until Flurry is resolved. So... uh... you're both right.
TRADES. eBay.
An Admin told me that I'm "too smart" for Another Realm. I hold that as a standing order.

Actually, thanks for mentioning Nanobots, which I had totally forgotten earlier. It made me go back through the FAQs, and I found this tidbit:

A: No. Unless stated otherwise by a power or ability, free actions cannot be given in the middle of another action.
So here we finally have an undeniable statement that Free Actions cannot normally be given during another action.
However, the Ricochet power says that "once the attack resolves", not "once the Action resolves", thus implying, but not specifically stating, that it could 'interupt' the Flurry action.
So my logic was flawed, but, apparently, my conclusion wasn't......
