As for the above comment, my understanding is that you can declare the TA you are copying once after an action is announced. If your declared wildcard TA makes the intended action illegal, if the attacker can still attack you via another means you can't switch again.
For example: I have Lightning Lad on a team with a Bat Ally and a Mystic. My opponent has a character with the hypersonic ability and a ranged attack. He declares his character is going to make a hypersonic attack against Lightning Lad. If I declare I am using Bat Ally to negate his ability to make a hypersonic ranged attack, he can still close for a close combat attack (assuming he has the movement to do so). I cannot then say I am copying the Mystic TA as I have already declared my TA for the action.
If he then attacks Lightning Lad with another character, though, I could declare I am using Mystics for this new action.
This was my understanding too.
Making the combination of like Batman, Mystics, Etc not as good as it used to be anymore.
IE, I can't say, I'm a batman ally for your HSS attack, only to switch to mystics when I know you're going to hit me.

Yup.. He kind of has Kang Syndrome. Kang's 1 damage RCE was a lot better too when he could make ranged attacks to an adjacent person.
Right. Back in the day, R Lightning Lad was actually quite good. 22 pt Wildcard taxi who could still pop people for 2 damage from 8 squares away was worth considering.
Now however, with -2 if you carry, lessening of Wildcard abilities, and fliers not making ranged attacks when based all add up to him being garbage.
But he wasn't garbage when he was released.

Anti-stealth is the biggest and most obvious, but also Batman (avoid retaliation), Ultimate X-Men (+1 attack!), or even PD (carry Gotham Detective and get +1 attack and give +1 attack next turn)
No most of them don't directly help with the EE attack itself, but they still are options that he can exploit.

This is true. And yeah Back in the days of CJ he definitely wasn't junk. Come the days of Indy where the taxi rules changed his effectiveness went down a notch, and then the point where fliers couldn't range combat a non flier took him down to poo..

... I broke Saturn Girl off at the ankle when I realized they were glued.
... Lightning Lad is the only HeroClick, to date, my dog has actually *eaten.* I still have the base and I re-glued him a post. No figure, though.

Big voice of dissent here. REV Live Wire a blah-figure at best? No way! I've loved him since CJ came out! Sure, on his own, due to his poor stats, he's not too impressive, but WC's are never on their own! He can borrow better AV or DV (or stealth) to correct his major faults and, with that assistance, actually become a much bigger nuisance than one would expect for his modest price! A 22 point WC taxi is a great thing!
I wouldn't call it a crutch. I would call it 90% of the thought (of most people) that goes behind playing a team with wild cards.
Does an oversimplifying, condescending attitude assist in the writing of articles like this?

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

Does this actually contribute anything to the article either?
I think not..
Do making snide condescending comments like this do anything more for you than raise your post count and make you feel like you're wearing the big boy pants?
I was simply backing up my statement of choosing batman ally in the review since 90% of people who play a wild card are going to say, "Hey 6 point Alfred" as opposed any of the JSA..
Sorry if you feel it's condescending to express the pattern of thought I had. If you don't like it, quit reading.
Your criticism is not constructive..

I believe Lightning Lad was a preferred figure by many playing at the World Championships.
The 10 range, Wildcard TA and solid numbers for only 70 points makes him a very solid figure. Sculpt is good too!
I've never used Lightning Lord, but his numbers look pretty solid too. After reading this review, I'm compelled to use him very soon!
Again, a very good review, though I sense DemonRS isn't convinced the figures are much better than "solid."
To perhaps sum up my feelings about the pieces a little bit better, I think the old REVs while still having a purpose mostly are lost to the waves of better pieces for a comparable point cost. While the Wildcard does make a big difference in playability he still ends up being a base 22 pt piece that really requires more pieces to make him playable.
As for the new ones they seem great for wild card abuse teams, my worry is that on a 300 pt game you're almost giving 1/3 of the points to play him. Then to add some other pieces to bring things like his AV and stuff up to par makes his usage a bit sketchy.
Lightning lord with a perplex is only 10 AV.. and for Lightning Lad it's an 11 which is a lot more useable (once again assuming you've got some perplex). I think i'd have to give L-lad the best of the versions however L-Lord does have some interesting strategies based around him.
But I still feel that the game has changed to much that the old REV's just aren't that good.. The 2 damage (due to RCE) isn't all that impressive and frankly it's gonna take a lot of work with wildcards that want to share combat values to keep him good... Then to be able to be shut down (regardless of combat values) by just basing him... Well I'm not terribly impressed with that one..
once again that's my opinion.. Back in the CJ days the game was much different adn for 22 points you had a taxi that did some ok damage as well as beign a wc abuse piece.. now it's much different..

I am going to have to side with Jarimy123 on this. Lighting Lad is one of the top 5 WC in the game!
For the bargain of 70 points you get a flyer with double arrows and 10 range. He opens with running shot and a 10 attack with a natural 3 damage. Without Armor Piercing he can crack reducers on five clicks thanks to PW, RCE, and a natural 3 damage. With Armor Piercing he can wreck shop with double arrows and energy explosion. Lighting Lad is a good figure to begin with so the WC TA takes it to another level.

Same goes for Vendetta.. Arguably a rookie thug gets more use out of it since there's more pieces of higher point value.
In this corner the R IC Thug with 0 range 6 attack. The challenger has a 10 range with double arrows and 10 attack. Lighting Lad! .
Seriously though if he targets two side by side characters AP will let him deal one damage to someone with reducers and 2 damage to the guy beside him! He can also target a single figure in two groups of two and deal four figures one damage. That may not sound impressive but if any of those figures had reducers then you would have only done one damage anyway and not been able to use EE. Also that one damage may be all it takes to knock a support figure off outwit or perplex.

As a range based figure if you are having to deal with poison or pulse wave, non novablast, then it may not be looking good for you anyways

I know you are not endorsing JSA butI believe JSA was nerfed and made all but unplayable for WC. I think WC can still copy the TA but they can only share the Defense and not lend their own so they have to stay by the JSA figure at all times. Others have pointed this out already and the switching is once per action. The strategy is to first use an outwit to target the WC. If they switch to Batman then the action is illegal, but the WC is locked in to Batman so you can have someone else charge in with no fear of Mystics that action. It is a win/win situation for the outwit also. If they do switch to Batman they are locked in and you get your outwit back. If they don’t switch then you get to outwit something important
