1) Clown mind controls Savage Dragon. Needs an 8, gets a 7. Rose pcs it into an 11. Violator tries to make SD hit himself (as he can use but does not possess willpower) and succeeds with a 3. Ignore that last roll because the attack is automatically successful. I was gonna throw a fit over missing by one after that. The auto hit on the 3-6 makes this power a lot better than I thought it was. Anyways, Savage Dragon pounds his own head in for 4 damage after toughness or 5 damage if I'm allowed to turn off toughness. Not sure. HO destroyed.
2) Grifter shoots Raphy using range combat expert. Gets double 6s for 4 after toughness and knockback to P7.
Not 100% sure on the mind control. I figured there was precidence to do it this way because there is a difference between having the KC symbol and using the KC ta.
As for Grifter, he can absolutely use RCE against adjacent non fliers.

SHARPSHOOTER This character can make ranged combat
attacks against adjacent opposing characters. When this character
makes a ranged combat attack, it can ignore the effect of opposing
characters on line of fire.
There is a ruling that states that if you have a SP that lets you use a power, you are considered as possessing that power for the purposes of meeting prerequisites for feats. You still don't actually possess the power though.
Savage Dragon qualifies for Opportunist because of the SP, but he doesn't actually possess WP, so he is not immune to that hit yourself thing.
Also, in answer to your question, JoH, Toughness is not optional.
I would think that a sharpshooter could shoot a guy that bases them, because don't sharpshooters ignore enemy figures when they shoot?
2 posts up. They can ignore the effects of enemies on LoF and shoot in adjacency. But they don't ignore enemy figures completely so no shooting out of adjacency.
But anyways, with toughness not being optional, that'd but the Dragon on click 2.
sorry, that seems like a ridiculous ruling to be honest, he has willpower as a power, and it's enough to let him use feats..
but it's not willpower enough to qualify for your special power..
lame.
off topic, I'm not sure I'd vote to incorporate this set with Heroclix actually still coming back. custom pieces were always a measure of last resort.. what do you think?
I think its kinda lame too but its consistant with wildcard rulings. For instance, wildcards have had to roll to move next to KC figures for as long as I've been playing the game because they don't possess the KC symbol, they are merely using it. IIRC, it was a specific to feats that allowed such special powers to work as prerequisites.
As for allowing these figures in the league, I think it'll require some playtesting against non Independent figures. Like Violator was able to do quite a bit of damage to Savage Dragon but could figures from other sets do the same? Hard to say. Most of the set looks good but not broken but playtesting helps.
I'd also need to look at the new dials. If they're a lot like the old HoT dials, I'd be all for using these instead. If they're more in line with heroclix as we know and love it, I'd be much more inclinded to vote against using these.

For me it's more of a matter, if we decide to use custom figures, where do we stop? If someone is making official figures, than that's what we should use. If we don't like the figures anymore, than the game in general is the problem.
But making our own figures was an idea I supported to keep the game alive.
