I for one LOVE print and play. Who knows - maybe by taking away the money used to print cardboard feats and bfc's, they were able to sink it into something else for this set or future sets - better paint jobs, better spinning clix dials, 3d objects... you know, stuff that actually made a product worthy of its price tag.
I play at a venue where the "sharks" come to play each other.
(i myself am not a shark, but i don't have the ability to go all over the state to get a prize or the income to buy it off someone else)
So i will look at LE feats as ANY LE should be viewed.
As a trophy.
it will no longer be a mark of "who has more money" when i see a good LE feat played, but rather a mark of "hey i won this, watch out i'm good"
The loss in the secondary market means people will hang on to these more, and flaunt them about, showing how they "won" them.
i love being able to show off an LE i won, even if it's just Dr. Chen Lui, i still won it!!
i couldnt do that with feats, i was actually quite embarrassed i had to pay for warbound just so i can compete, now i dont have to worry about it any longer!
bringing actual "trophy feats" into the game will drive ME to play the game more, because it means i will have something others wont, but at the same time, they can still use the feat. (mine is just better because i won it )
thats just my opinion, Heroclix is the only competitive game/event i have ever been apart of where people are so willing to sell things they have won, or people who only play to sell their trophies (actually, i think they did that in Heath Ledger's A Knights Tale, but thats completely different...)

Along these lines, I wonder if it's possible we'll see stuff in the future like "foil" character cards, feats or BFCs as prizes. I know that foil versions of cards are nothing new to Magic or Warmachine players. It's just a thought.

i've always thought the same thing, like to signify the difference between a judge's LE, 1st place and fellowship.

It's for all sets and I can't see how it would "kill the game". Any change they make someone says it will "kill the game". And it doesn't and life goes on and the game is fine until there's a new change which someone says will "kill the game"... and it doesn't.
At this point, I'm convinced that nothing ever can kill the game. It's been through so much and lived, how could something as relatively trivial as print and play be the thing to do it in?

First i don't have all BFC and feats. So anyone can't say:you get all feat and bfc that why you say you hate print and play .i hate it because all card i get is by trying trading some buying and some winning/fellowship price. It's a trading miniature collectible game that include card system within. The FUN with colletible game is playing, Trading, buying, and try to get super rare fig that you long time waiting for. And, of course they(neca/wizkids) have not included HoT card in this set so that can be ok for print and play BUT FOR ALL THE OTHER CARDS....i say no! i like the heroclix game as it look like (neca can bring some clarification) but with print and play.....why not print and play figure dial and then say i should get it anyway...
bye
Much love my man! Rep given. I totally agree with you!
I have always wanted print and play for friendly games, even back in the day. The old WizKids site had .pdfs of the cards, and a few of my friends made proxies and used them in our friendly games.
But when it comes to sanctioned or tourney play, print and play is totally bogus and shouldn't be allowed. It's very unprofessional.
It would be like me bringing my Baden football to the Super Bowl. It's just not professional. Now I have to deal with dorks bringing their black and white torn to shreds BFCs and Feats to tourneys.
Until recently I have been a play at home heroclix fan so my chances of scoring any LE cardboard were exactly squat w/o shelling out on evil bay..... and paying $30 for a little square of paper.
I think print and play really levels the playing field for everyone and we can all still "collect" figs
Print and play should be fine for home and friendly play. Which is why the old WizKids site had the cards as .pdf. Proxies have always been a part of the game, but should not be a part of tourney play.
It is sad that regardless of a person's view point it can be deemed as wrong just because not everyone agrees with it. If the person does not like something and can give a correct reason about why they don't like it then they have a valid point. Just like how people who do like it have a correct reason and making their valid point.
You could either agree or disagree, but no matter how you say it you should not end it snidely such as it happened get over it, stop crying, if you don't like it quit the game. Most of these remarks are not made in jest, not made to provoke thoughtful discussion but more of a flame war.
I agree! Well said my friend!!! The personal attacks get completely out of hand on this site, and when someone retaliates back, they are the ones that get the warning, and not the snide jerks making the original comments.
Everyone has an opinion, and we should all politely to agree to disagree. After all, we all are here for the same reason: We all love HeroClix! And all of us have something we dislike about the game. Any person that says they agree with 100% every rule, every element, every fig, etc., isn't being honest with themselves.
So just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean that person is a moron or idiot.
Cardboard should have never been as important and vital to the game as it was before, this has solved that problem.
There are a lot of shoulda, woulda, coulda's. We have to focus on the way it is, and not the way it should be.
I can write 10 pages arguing the things that should be or shouldn't be in HeroClix.
But since cardboard has become a major part of the game, we have to focus on that.
I'm in the camp that proxies should only be used in non-sanction, non-tourney friendly games, and I've stated my reasons in other posts.
I can see the points that the opposite side is making, and some I feel are valid points. But I think the cons outweigh the pros for allowing print and play across the board.
Well in this case, there's really no reason to argue or disagree. It's the rule, it's happened. Arguing it online isn't going to change it. If you don't like it, take it up with your local judge... that will be more productive than arguing about it here.
But when it comes to sanctioned or tourney play, print and play is totally bogus and shouldn't be allowed. It's very unprofessional.
It would be like me bringing my Baden football to the Super Bowl.
Funny, you call out WK/NECA for a bogus decision. But its their game and their rules.
Yet, you cite bringing Baden football to the Super Bowl. Another game with a fairly well defined set of rules as designed by the owners. Isn't that inconsistent?

Just a dork, huh?
I am in awe of the cool and awesome people here on HCR!
Why even buy any figs anymore? I can sculpt or mod my own, create my own dials, and create my own feats.
But in my opinion, that is the wrong route to take.
I pay NECA / WizKids money to give me a professional and quality product, with collectable value, as they market it as a collectable game.
Print and play is none of the above. It isn't professional, it isn't quality, and it definitely isn't collectable.
If they are going to take cardboard out of the booster, they better drop the price. In my area, all venues are selling boosters for $13.00 each. That's a rise in cost with less value.
