Also having PB/EW allows you to use your Outwit on something other than defensive abilities (PC, Perplex, HSS, etc.)
I rarely have Perplex or Outwit, but when I do, I generally don't use it on the defense powers unless I REALLY want to make something stick or can't damage any other way. I try to take away my opponent's ability to do anything to me.
Something else to consider regarding Outwit vs Psychic Blast/EW. Outwit is useless against Power Cosmic/Quintessence figures... guess what's not? Psy Blast/EW. Also having PB/EW allows you to use your Outwit on something other than defensive abilities (PC, Perplex, HSS, etc.)
It's also more useful if you have it on a figure with Charge or Running Shot who can't see the target at the start of the action. A figure who Charges around a wall can Exploit Weakness a target that they wouldn't have been able to Outwit for lack of line-of-sight.

And for you - if I had perplex, I would laugh at you. Eg - 19 defense + ES/D + 3 perplex = 24 defense.
you can call my black flash, galactus
yeah lets see BM/GA with base 12 attack, with the 4 Gotham Detectives that gives me +3 Attack and +3 damage with duo attack, so that is first attack is 6 damage with a 15 attack against you highest def possible of 22 that is the average roll of 7 needed to hit. Then my second attack hits for another 6 with a MUCH easier chance since you lost you perplex to defense.
So yeah say all you want perplex and outwit has their use but o some teams its not needed, EW/PB is good to have so that if you do have outwit you don't have to waste the outwit on Defense so you can counter their offensive ability's.
...preemptive attack
or counter-Outwit
or meat shields
or......

Main thing you need to remember, they are trying to build as close to comic accurate figures as they can. Since not every character is the same you have different combinations and such. Outwit may represent someone who is highly logical and intelligent. They would be able to think around an opponents strengths. Whereas Exploit Weakness represents someone adapt at fighting or weapons and thru superior training get to their opponents weaknesses. One may not be able to do it the same way as the other but they both have their chances. That is why they exist. They add much more versitility to the game.
Totally off topic, and maybe I'm just really tired right now, but Termin8r and Perpexinator should be forbidden from posting together in the same thread. Too many 'aters.
or Stealth (can't see them to outwit them)
or Barrier (usually out of your range putting up barriers at range)
or positioning (wha? how does outwit affect positioning?)
or......
Reply in bold.
Seriously, outwit ruins defensive abilities. Turns Thor into a high-defense thug. It's hard to be Superman when your impervious gets outwitted from 10 squares away.
