Adding a line isn't going to help the confusion it will only leave people confused about all the other figs they want to use to use the same free action twice.

The really issue is in nailing down what it means when it says you can only activate a game effect once per turn with a free action.
For example, with Magog, one person could say that the game effect being activated by the free action is {give Magog any action} while another could say it is {Charge}.
These things are not black and white, so it takes some time to nail it down to avoid things like this on other figures.

I did try and get that to work... First his charges, KOs something, then he makes a ranged attack, KOs something, then he runs away... 3 different actions so its not the same free action... but that got shot down...

Though it's being changed for clarity... I still think (as in want) this should be legit. It's not exactly hard to pull off, but it's not easy.

I agree. So any errata or added lines should not be on Magog but on the section regarding activating game effects via free actions.
But the section you refer to is pretty clear cut. Its the ambiguity of what exactly the 'free action' of Magog's trait actually is.
Example:
He shoots a figure and ko's it. The trait activates and he chooses to use Charge with it.
So, is the free action granted by the trait {Charge as a free action} or is it a {free action that activates any other action, in this case Charge}?
If its Charge as a free action, and he ko's another figure, then he can be given a close combat action as a free action to attack another figure.
If its a free action to activate anything else, then even if he ko's another opposing figure, he can't use the free action granted to trigger anything else as he's already done that this round using the trait.
To get this thread back on track, I would say that MG's trait specifically allows Regen at one point during each turn. Outside of that, he can't use it. Using it with Auto Regen is still using it outside of that one instance. Its all at the beginning of the turn, but its 2 different uses. He is using Regen as a free action per the trait and trying to use regen as a free action through the feat. It doesn't matter that Auto Regen is a free action. The only thing that matters is that MG is trying to use regen outside of the stated parameters of the trait.
Its also important to note that the last phrase of the trait, "but can't otherwise use it through this power." means that outside of the trait he can't use regen. Auto Regen is a feat and not part of his trait. Ergo, Auto Regen can't activate Regen since it is not part of the trait.
Just because they're both free actions, doesn't mean that they are the same.
