You could be at the crossroads I am at with my wife though. I am a military history nerd, and I have always wanted a son Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain Hoffman (or just cut out the Lawrence). My wife, a big Twilight fan, threatens to use Twilight names if I don't compromise.
Not Renesmee. That is possibly the worst name ever imagined.
I have a question I'd like to ask for your opinions on. My wife and I are both big comic book readers and are debating having a second child. We both would like to name the child with names we have grown to love from our reading.
Do any of you have children named after something you really enjoy, mainly comics?
I know Kevin Smith named his daughter Harleen Quinzel Smith. What are your thoughts on this?
If you were to name your baby like this, what would you call him/her?
My daughters are named Illyana and Katya. If we ever have a boy, I am lobbying for Piotr.

So I suggested Emmy Illyana Lacroix, and that's the name we're going with.
I beat you to it, brother.

Number 1 was 100% wife's idea bout 15 mins after we found out he was a boy.
Number 2 went back and forth a lot. Couldn't agree. Loved Emma. Jean was my want but she said its too "southern" finally the Saturday before she was born we choose Emma Jean. She was born on a Friday night during a VERY crazy out of nowhere storm (sky is clear everywhere but our neighborhood). So after spending the weekend with her we called back the midwife to "errata" her birth cert which great fully she did not mail in yet because of the weekend.

I have some friends who named their first daughter Illyana (that seems like a popular one) and their second one is named Aurora (everyone assumes that it's after the Disney princess, but nope, it's after the member of Alpha Flight).
It's not from a comic book, but one of the geekiest names I personally know is Valen.

We went with weird first names and normal middle names. Unless you call the kid by their middle name, it seems unlikely that they would choose to by it.
We went the more classy nerd route, though, with names from mythology and legend.
Our daughter is Ariadne, named for the Princess of Crete and Goddess of Naxos.
Our son is Owain, named for Sir Owain the Knight with the Lion (Yvain in French). We decided to name all of our sons after knights of the Round Table.
If I were to go for a comic book name, Carter would be high on my list.
It is things like first names that are atrocious that get kids bullied at a young age. Way to just F over your kids.
Give them the "interesting" middle names because no matter what, when the kid is in school and they are first called on that first day of school, the first name will always be said.
What would better????
Syphilis J. Williams
or
Jazmine S. Williams
I think people will make fun of little Syphilis.

If I had a son, I would name him Calvin Linus _________. Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes, Linus from Peanuts, and for short, he could be called Cal L (as in Kal-El aka Superman).
If I had a daughter, I'd go with Kara (as in Supergirl) for the first name, but I don't have a great idea for a middle name. I'd be tempted to go with something like Kara Lynn (just cuz it sounds like a normal name) or Kara Melanie (cuz it could be Caramel for short just for the lolz). There's no way I'd try to fit a "Zor-El" in there.

Honestly what kid doesn't get bullied at a young age?
Kids always find a reason to degrade each other. Too tall. Too short. Too fat. Too smart. Can't shoot a basketball. Can't catch a baseball. Etc etc etc
If I can teach my kids to have a high self esteem then f&$" the rest of the bullies in the world who feel empowered to put others down. They won't get my kids.
*truth be known I wanted to name by son Sue after the Johnny Cash song. Wife never heard the song before but loved it and understood once she heard it. -but still veto Sue from the name bank.

You make valid points about bullying. I am just not a fan of people today who name their children in worse ways than how children name their first goldfish.
