Let's think about this a bit.

WK was already losing money when they were shopping themselves to large buyers. If they, as a subsidiary of Topps, continue to lose money, they will be unloaded by Topps. That means SOLD to someone else! Maybe to someone with less money to invest in them. After all, Topps is a successful company.

They don't have the $$$ to buy themselves BACK from Topps. They won't have a chance to make it on their own - they already tried that and failed!

The other option is that Topps simply shuts down WK. They could hold or sell their patents and licenses (individually perhaps) to other companies.

None of that sounds good for MW.
