I was unhappy about things at first, but after taking some time to think about it, something had to happen or the game was doomed. All we can do now is hope that this is the right solution. That said, I am very happy that Wizkids actively supports this game because it is one of the best I have played.
And completely off topic, it looks like Dimension Zero finally got enough rope to hang himself. I don't like to see anyone get banned, but I also think these forums will be better off without his negative and vindictive comments.
1) I work 60 to 80 hours a week depending on the week, I have no time to paint and construct miniatures so the fact that you can play right out of the box is perfect for me.
2) I have gotten to meet a lot of great people at events that I would not have met otherwise.
3) The organized support.
4) The fact that there is someone on the WK forums answering the rules questions anyone has about the game so we know how to play it correctly.
5) The figure design and paint jobs just keep getting better.
I'd like to chime in on this list, it's overdue. Sorry if I repeat.
1. THEY MADE MECHWARRIOR. Giant robots... yum. Good to Great paintjobs on every unit? Yum.
2. Two words: DARK RIDERS. What does that mean to Mechwarrior? I'm not sure, but if the new direction in MK is any indication of the thoughtfulness and coolness they'll inject into MW, we're all going to be googlyeyed soon.

Great point. The objective of all this change is to make the game better. If it evolves out of someone's zone of enjoyment, well that's life (even I stopped playing with my Tonka Trucks no matter how cool they are).
Point is I love the game, I love the direction I see it going and I am looking forward to the future whatever it may bring. SHould it ever get to the point where I do not enjoy the game, I will not stand around and ##### at the folks who still find it enjoyable. I'll go find another game/hobby/get a life and move on.
I am of the mind that the folks who don't like the way things are run will go away so the folks who are enjoying the game get a better signal to noise ratio.
I do love the game for all the reasons you listed and more. I believe that a whole lot of the people that have problems with the current changes do love the game. What is it that they say of love scorned though?
Nice thread, guys. I thought gloom and doom were the only ideas MW players were capable of. I'm not even bugged by retirement. I love my plastic soldiers. Army men riding concrete crushing walking tanks with rulesm - Very Cool. And they give us prizes if we win sanctioned tournaments once in a while. I love it.
Never fails, the usual suspects come in and try to stir up trouble.
This is a truly great game, for all the reasons listed and more. WizKids is a truly revolutionary company, and I'm glad they've shared their genius with us.
Why I love this game
1. For 4 hours a week, I get to get out of the house, and just relax.
2. I have someone else build, paint, and design my toys
3. I get to use skull sweat to make it work
4. I get instant feedback via the game (If I win.... #### it I won. If I lost, I know to who, and how)
5. This game is evolving to include the things I love about the MW universe
6. The feeling of belonging. Once a geek always a geek.
7. I can still play army men.
8. I CAN STILL PLAY. (do you know how important this is? Most grown ups have lost the ability to imagine, let alone play)
9. I have lost to my kids (ages 8, 6 and even 4) in this game.
10. The competition is usually excellent, and when it isn't, you can teach them to be better.
11. It allows me to blow off steam w/out actually having to hurt anyone.
I love this game! I am 39 years old with a wife and two kids and Battletech has been in my life since 1986 in one form or another. First with what is known now a days as "Classic Battletech" And now with MDA. Im not just a passing fan I have a huge, huge Battletech collection dating back 18 years. Im talking figures, games, source books, novels etc. So as you can imagine im very grateful to WizKids for keeping my favorite universe alive. I only play these games at home with friends and have never played in a tournament nor do I care to. For me its just about FUN! Figure retirement? Who cares? I dont, I'll still be here and I'll still be having fun with my mechs and reading my MWDA novels. All I can say is bring on the Jade Falcons! Thanks for listen to an old guy ramble on!
