Also mentioned him fighting with Stone and being 4 years younger than Victor Stiener-Davion. (or was it 4 yrs older?)
Paladin David McKinnon is four years younger than Victor, meaning he was born in 3034. I figure he's related to the famous McKinnons from the 7th Crucis Lancers (see the Fox's Teeth CBT scenario book).
More info on Alexia Wolf...
p48: She has a bit of Sea Fox blood in her. Kell Hounds sometimes take WiE warriors who fail their ToP, but Alexia didn't want to.
p123: Alexia suffers from the jitters before combat. "Alexia knew only that the prickling sensation crawling over her scalp had been at its worst just before she failed her Trial of Position, when her testing partner turned on her, and had never once heralded good news."
Another possible GDL connection. In the CBT era, Hesperus II and Defiance Industries were the holding of the Brewer family, the head of which, Daniel Brewer, was an officer (Captain?) in the Gray Death Legion. He was one of the few survivors of the unit after the FedCom Civil War. In Blood of the Isle, the world and company are held by the Brewster family. I'm just wondering if this is a typo along the lines of Cassie Suthorn being called "Cassie Southern" in Flight of the Falcon. I need to ask Loren about that.
Oh, and we get confirmation of half of Anastasia's parentage: She's the daughter of Natasha Kerensky!

Why not just drop BattleTech from BattleTech? This whole miserable storyline's been MechWarrior (As much derision loaded onto that title as possible) since the Clan invasion.
He turned twenty-one just before the Clans tried to take Luthien during the Invasion, and he was thirty-two when Arthur was assassinated in 3062 (was it '62?). About right (this means Victor is about 104. Not bad.)
roosterboy: Galaxy Commander Baldric Kell? w00t, someone holding the Kell Bloodname!
They really wronged Tara Bishop (if she's dead) not only in the fact she seemed to be around but wasn't even named and never even made a comment. But in the fact her death didn't even make the book and Tara Cambell didn't even take the time to grieve about her....
As for Tamara Duke she died a hero's death and it was well written it would have been nice if she had been around for a book or two so it could have meant more to me but I thought she did well for herself and her Wolfhound.
Finally, the JF are cracked out, its ironic we wanted to see them because they are not a sub faction but the JF in the Rupublic are as sub faction as they get crazy birdies.
All in all, I liked the book alot though, I can't believe this next one is going to probably waste my time talking about Sea Foxes.
