Well AoD doesn't ship until LATE Jan. so I wouldn't expect any prizes from that set yet. The AoD marquee is probably in late Feb.

As far as marquee prizes being reoffered- I would say that this undercuts the rarity, but WK has used marquee prizes at cons before so its not unheard of. Still at least no left over DA Uniques are being given away as prizes. Who's up for Janis Nova Cat as a prize :)

It seems that i will have two changes to win Josem Hawker, first one is next tournie.

Well, I for one intend to run the sealed on the last week of the month, so my players can buy (and play with) AoD, under AoD rules.

I am kind of surprised that there are NO AoD prizes, but those that are being offeres are really pretty nice. I have several players who need some of these prizes, so I think that turnout will be ok.

I'm not going to fault WK for this, they already said they didn't have enough LE prizes to get through the months without repeats from FP. AoD wont have that problem.

As for the storylines, I'm not exactly sure they're going to be back. I DO know is they're working on a new INN-style fluff website.

I'd like to as well, though they have it listed as 1-15 Jan only for that event, so I'd guess it is designed to not include the new toys... A shame, really... While the retailer we will likely buy them from will be happy enough to move a little of the "dead" stock, I'd say the attendence (and sales) would be MUCH better if we could run them with the new product that people will be buying anyway... I guess I was hoping for too much that we'd be getting the new set and be able to play it immediately, with new prizes, etc. to generate more excitement/sales for the retailer... Ah well, hopefully Feb will have what we're looking for.

Then I hope this new website is more dynamic than the actual and consider not only the storylines (previous or new) but ALSO the outcome of the novels. New Aragon and St. Andre should be SwordSworn worlds and in the map they are neutral.

All of the retirement doom/gloom crowd should be happy that the unrestricted tournies will continue (as they have in MK).

With a late January release (just in time to MISS Christmas), AoD rules wouldn't be tournament legal for about 10-14 days anyway. And if there were AoD prizes in January, the secondary market would be at full tilt before the actual release, which WizTopps would not appreciate. And please, save me drivel that envoys don't sell their stuff.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, Marquees are held in the month AFTER release. For instance, Falcons Prey was in September - the month after release, which was August. So quit complaining there is no Marquee in January already.

As for the prizes - usually they don't have the new set's prizes up for grabs until the set has been released. I think there are exceptions but there are also examples where the prizes for a given set are still being given out after a new set is already in circulation.

It is kinda disappointing that they are re-doing LEs from previous tournaments and the fact that half of them are from old Marquees (Ichiba, Revekka, Evan and Geoff) is a tad disappointing considering I bought or traded for three of those on the assumption that this was the only way short of winning the Marquee to get them.

That said, there is at least one decent prize worth having in every one (assuming you do not already own it).

Buying and trading LEs with the assumption that they will be rare in the future is generally a losing proposition.

With the exception of Kal Raddick and Stephanie Ehli and a few other less desirable LEs, I can't think of many mechs that have not been rereleased as either a tourney prize or a BM reward sometime after their initial release. That includes Mason, which I got in my rewards pack once.

Speaking in generalities, the value of LEs goes down ... over time ... 95% of the time. Take it from a guy who sold Kal Raddick for $121 the day after I won him at a tournament. Check the eBay prices today.

Yes, first time i've noticed Wizkids restricting dates for non-Marquee/Pre-release events. The Unrestricted Event #2 is also locked into the second half of the month whereas the Sealed is the first half.

Generally prefer to schedule the events I run on different weeks then the other local venues, helps players who happen to be away for a week get a chance at a prize they thought they missed the previous week.

AoD may have that problem. There are few LE mechs, which probably means we will see some more than once. On the flip side, there will probably be enough LE cards to prevent them from being repeated.

That's what Prydefalcn meant. Every card in the set can be reprinted as an LE with a different colour background without even worrying about changing stats!!

Yea...oh goody I got the card with the pink background!

thats what they did for Mage Knight Sorcery printed the same stats on cards just added a little different color and the wizkids logo to the le ones.

If history is any indication in Mage Knight they now give more cards away than figs it seems and so I expect to see that too.

Wiztopps is indeed trying to get rid of excess stock I got Tammi Miller for my participation prize so i dont have to worry about winning that tournament but would not mine Becker hmmmmm
