At PCQ Indy #2 I have more "come from negative life to win" stories that involved it's not over yet than can possibly be imagined. The covered one where I was facing down Heath Baker was probably the biggest swing. Turn 6 he had 3 13 attack characters (backed by many lower-attacked guys, like an 8-powered Ahmed) reducing me to -7 (AFTER I had been gaining life with House of Secrets for 3 turns and Revitalized my 6-drop to prevent another 13 damage). I it's not over yetted superman for 6, then housed... putting me back to positive 3... this let me live to the next turn, where my 7 drop Alan Scott sealed the game.
I also had a strong tendancy to bounce 6-drop Medusa in Heralds draft by teaming up Kree/Inhumans, and prevent fatal swings (the opponent's character would stay locked down).
Come-from-behind victories are always the best :).
Once, someone team attacked with 4 characters into my Super Skrull. I also had 5 cards in hand at that point. He didn't have the pumps, and I won. This was the 2-0 bracket of 10K NJ 2004.
An opponent got me to 0 in a game against my spider-friends/x-men, and I had to wait until my attack step to play a children of the atom to recover my Madam web and then activate my Firestar to gain 2 Endurance. This stunned my own Longshot, but left me at 1 and got me in to the next turn.
Another good one was against an opponent that kward-locked me on turn 6..well almost locked me. He had me unable to attack with my gk deck while he was continuing to gain END. He was at about 112 I think on turn 12 or something crazy, insisting that I concede sense I clearly couldn't win. I recruited an 8 drop GK Superman and used a Batplane to bounce one of my characters after drawing a card for Batman with him then salvaged the Batplane. Keeping Batman's Defense at one, preventing the Stun. The following turn I played the Demon Etrigan. He chose to lose the END instead of the resources. That 8 END is the END that allowed me to get him to exactly 0 that turn.
In a PCQ the day after the last 10K Chicago, I was playing Titans and my opponent was playing CS. He had me majorly hounds locked, and at the end of turn 4 I had no board to his Mark V, Mark II, Hounds, Boliver, and possible another Mark II (I Foiled his Total Anarchy earlier). On turn 5, I play Red Star and Roy Harper: Speedy, while he plays Nimrod. With a combination of Tamaran, 3 TTG and 2 Beatdowns, I stun his board expect for Hounds. I reinforce a bunch next turn, and then win on 7 after drawing my last TTG and boosting Tim Drake.
So it's turn 5 in a sealed PCQ, opponent's init and after I recruit I think I had a 2, 4 and 3 drop visible. My opponent is on curve so I push the off team two drop into the front next to the 4 and the 3 behind the 2. He flies over and trades the three. Then he does exactly what I'm hoping for and sends his 4 into the two, pump, pump, puimp... Prismatic Shield. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I went 6-0 that PCQ before losing in the last round when paired down. lol That was the best part though.
I was playing a friend of mine and his Fearsome Five/Gotham Knights stall deck. I think his plan was to stall to nine and boost Dr. Light or something.
Anyway, turn 7 rolls around and neither of us has done much damage. I can't punch through his Cops, and he uses Shimmer to lock my board. He kept exhausting the GCPD to Wayne Manor. I know I need to shut him down soon, so I quickly count my characters, and Mockingbird in an extra, using Leslie's Clinic to keep him around.
Playing X-men sealed Turn 7 i'm way ahead let my opp. change plays like three times becuase i'm gunna crush no matter what...................Except putting Piper behind Hemmingway when it's his ittish and he has Juggernaut!! Hmm can't reinforce........Juggernaut stuns both lose by 3. I figures Jeff or Nick would have posted this already!!!!!
Friendly Game Yesterday. My opponent uses Kyle Rayner Boosted on turn 8 so that no one can attack so that he can survive another turn.
I smile as I activate Galactus, Maker Zapping his last endurance point. He then proceeds to go as to how that is not how it works...but in the end...I win
I was playing a 10 team Manhunter / Emperor Joker deck back when Dr. Light was legal and on turn 7 with 1 endurance I played 6 Last Stands, (I was playing Secret Society and got 2 of them back from my KO pile) and pumped my Dr. Light(3) to a 68 DEF to stop a team attack of 4 Avengers Reservist characters and live on at 1 life. I then droped the Emperor on turn 8 for the win.
I was playing for fun down at the store one night with this really annoying teenager called Ralph (because he looks like the Simpsons character). Losing to Ralph is not an option - it's simply not done. I forget the exact circumstances, but he bounced a load of my attacks and then had sufficient board to kill me. I said "if you win this game, I swear to god I'll hit you so hard your dentist will have to look up your arse to check your teeth." He passed on his combat step and I won.
One time at a 10k vs galan/super genius, we were playing for t8 and I was unreal dead, but Kneelays formed with Bastion and Magneto in the back row, while I had Tim, Roy, Garth and 7 resources and 5 dudes in the kod pile. I Optitron'd for Koriandr, putting the 6th dude in the yard, then shot bastion with Koriandr. Then I pumped roy to 8 power with Tim/Garth, shot my own Tim Drake with Roy (only legal target), simply to KO a character in my resource row. In response to this, I Press the Attack'd Koriand'r before Tim stunned. It took me about a million years to think of this, but I'm glad I did, b/c I won the 10k.
During the draft rounds of PC Sydney I was facing a pretty bleak position, it was my opponents initiative and I was having to just play a 4 drop on turn 6. After a couple attacks I was at 5 end, with just my 4 drop left unstunned, and he still had a 6 drop and a 2 drop left to attack. His 6 went into my four, and I played Dominated, stunning his 2 drop and leaving me at 1 end, and I go on to win next turn. If I had just not recruited anything that turn I would have been at a much safer End total, hah.
