I was glad that Overload was banned...
Yeah but Overload by itself was a great card. It was an effective way of punishing guys like you who like to pump the living hell out of their guys. In a format without Savage Beatdown, Nasty Surprise and Bastion, Overload is a balanced card. It was banned because of its interaction with those cards, not because it stopped you from playing lots of attack pumps on one guy.
What I dont like about the idea of Silver age (yes we havent seen some of the expansions) is that almost all the cards that enable control and combo decks will rotate out. Since origins ude have shown a reluctance to print powerful combo enablers and control cards (will we see cards as powerful as Alfred, Mystical and Reign again?). I dont think a purely aggro format would be very interesting.
So barring a U turn on ude's part silver age will all be about who can bring the most powerful and or synergistic beats.

I realize that... but... I hated the combo... SNO.. bam... I get a stun be cause I used a Beatdown... and then they play a beatdown... on my guy and stun him... horrible... so that is why I'm glad it's gone... but I still like to pump...
after ban... my the first PCQ i did.... Beatdown, beatdown. Mega Blast, Mega Blast, Flying kick.... Blind sided on a nice little once drop with my Feral Rage... It was nice to know that no overload was going to stop my attack...

People, you should really wait for the new sets to pass judgement on the new format...
This is true but you also have to realise that they may also have already thought of this and want to have a format that is void of single cards that completely remove deck types from a format. Without those cards you will actually have to play against those deck types instead of drawing a single card that beats their whole decktype. I wonder how Curve players would feel if Gamma Bomb was a one drop card?

I apologize but I do not agree. Green Lantern was the best control set to come out in a long time. With all the all the life gain, exhaustion, and recovery options.
Not to mention the Injustice Gang in the new DC set. There are control decks still out there, you will just have to look for them now (Though not very far...).
Originally posted by spid3rm4n they just better reprint Flame Trap or something similar to it.
No offense, but I think this is a horrible idea. Flame Trap is a stupid, environment-warping card and I'll play Silver Age if only because it doesn't have FT in it.
Games should pit strategies against strategies, not strategies against hate cards.
Every plot twist that can win the game all by itself should have a threshold of at least nine.
While a flame-trap reprint is crossing the line a bit,I would like to see some good non-team stamped defense against off-curve in the next set. The last thing SA needs is to be just like DC modern ( GLEE,GLEE,GLEE-hate,and more GLEE) where outside of zero hour curve had no shot.
You mean H'ronmeer's Curse?(Hm,calling it a cuse thingy does sound better)
Unfortunately that and AD are atk step only cards, and HC's threshold cost is a little too high. As decent as HC is,it's too little too late. I was hoping for something that would help defending against the weenies, not help catch up in the numbers game. Thanks for the suggestions though.
golden age cards that are almost guaranteed to be legal in silver age:
she hulk 5 drop ff
flying kick
marvel team up
reprints already abound, so the idea of more in the future isn't at all that far fetched, right?
especially with 2 more sets to go through before we see the format in action..?
overload could easily be unbanned by silver age, or at the least unbanned for silver age any way, should it happen to be reprinted and beat down not be reprinted, just as an example of the things we can only speculate about.
and there are a few other low drops that control weenies, like cardiac and boomer rang and the captain boomerang ( all which have effects that are puns based on magic's effect card boomerang that returns cards to their owners' hands.)
Originally posted by scarletspider Savage Beatdown especially because it is almost impossible for new players to get them, as well as Flame Trap, Foiled, Overload...Wait! no Overload ever again!
Yes it is nearly impossible. Right now, the ability to get Marvel Origins packs rests only with those few String Theorists able to perform the almost arcane task of conducting a search on Amazon or Froogle. Or those old school adventurers able to navigate the wilderness to find that location long though lost in the mists of obscura, the fabled "Toys R Us".
Then there is the biggest barrier of all. Having to pay only slightly less then retail for these packs. No wholesale box prices on a set released almost two years ago? How do they expect people to get in the game?
Well i really like that almost all decks will have to be combat oriented. There wont be anymore child locks, stall or control type decks. All you pacifists are finally going to have to get your hands dirty.
