Doom isn't a bad call for a loner type strategy, so long as the doom is the power cosmic version.
Instead, I think doom would be better served by a card that functionally said that doom wasn't unique, representing his stupid army of robots.
Though in game terms this might be nightmarish since R&D doesn't always know how or where the balance point is for cards <zing> and this could lead to gross manipulations of the game.]
But in terms of flavor and staying true to the character, that would have to be up there. :)
Or maybe a card that let doom return a location to it's owner's hand, then put the top card of their deck in to the resource row... ... doom seemed to like the idea of launching buildings in to space at one time :)

Activate, Return Dr. Doom to your hand --> Ko target Location with the name Baxter Building. Next turn at the start of the build phase, Stun target Character with a cost at least 2 less than the number of resources you control.
It's way too strong, and the templating is a nightmare, but the flavor! Oh god, the flavor!
I would understand everyone's complaints more if mono-doom was a more viable deck option.
We all know Dr Doom (4) is splashed into half the decks out there. All I'm suggesting is a redoing of the deck to make it actually better to play as an affiliation. I mean, there's no decent 6-drop!! You want me to KO my cost 4 for a version of him thats rubbish? Or should I play Darkoth?
The problem with ALL of these arguments for and against putting Doom in as a team in Heralds of Galactus is this:
It's a COSMIC set. It revolves around SPACE and COSMIC-LEVEL activities in the Marvel Universe. Doom already HAS the card representing his aquisition of cosmic power. I can see Doom getting a single legacy card; Dr Doom, Cosmic Power.
The FF on the other hand goes out into space and deals with cosmic level entities ALL THE TIME.
That ALONE negates any reasonable argument for inclusion in a cosmic set.
I don't expect doom as a new team any time soon, much less in the cosmic set.
But to see a new direction for doom, similar to the new direction for brotherhood, wouldn't be an unwelcome sight ;)
I like the idea of many teams still being available to choose from for other formats, and while doom is available right now for MMA, you don't actually get very long to play with doom if he is one of your favorite characters.
I wanna see a Leader Read Richards... Especially since one of the Reeds name was LEADER!
As for Acolytes almost being a team on their own, I agree. I play an Acolyte deck, the only non-Acolyte I have is 8-drop Magneto, since he lead them to a degree.
