In fact, tdc's win condidtion was not press galactus multiple times and swing for a lot, but rather, SLOW PLAY as much as possible so that time is called on six, hopefully galactus' effect will get my opponent down low enough for me to win on time.
This is a pretty rediculous statement. The longer games went, the more likely TDC Stall would win the game in nearly every matchup. Almost all of my games ended b/c my opponent was more negative than me at the end of the turn and that was the case with all of my teammates, it was rare that we just won games on endurance total. Are you just accusing 14 people of slow-play for the heck of it?
-not to point out the obvious but... SOMEONE had to develop those decks in the first place and THEY didn't netdeck. They put alot of hard work in to conceptualizing, creating, tweaking, and playtesting the deck. What's preventing you from doing the same? Don't say experiance, most people net deck at first, it takes time to be good enough to make your own competative deck.
-the top 8 decklists from a PC you need to take with a grain of salt. Just because they are the T8 decklist doesn't mean they are the best decks in the format. The people who top 8, those are the people who are really good at drafting, there are plenty of people who are good at constructed and are horrible at limited (like that guy who went 10-0 day one and 0-9 day two of a pro circuit, WTF was that?!! LOL). I've heard of other decks that were played at the pro circuit, I'm personally looking forward to looking at the JSA/Checkmate/Roy Harper deck that I've heard about.
Why are you on the net posting and crying about it why not get out there and come up with an original deck . Or better yet just shut yourself in a cave far away from any civilization because people like you are the reason I detest going to many pcqs or anything of that kind of nature . All you guys do is just sit there and cry when you get beat why not take it as a learning experience and give people their props because they are the ones walking away with the money so obviously they did something right and you did'nt so just get over or just cry about it somemore and as for sharing decklists i'll share with who I want because who am I not to offer help to people who just want to get better at our game . In conclusion just shut up or nut up !
Well look, its kinda disappointing when you think a game will be a certain way, and then spend $1,500 on cards in the first 5 months. That's two playstation 3's or 1 with a whole bunch of games. But honestly I would like to play versus. But ssshhh... hehe It's hard to get into something when the true dorks of the game are truly zoinking out.
PLAY your own decks, and 3 cards different doesn't qualify
if there was a consortum of 15-20 cards that were just bomb, and every deck had to have those 15-20 that wouldnt be bad that would be cool.
PLAY YOUR OWN DECKS, not a net deck... hah, there was probably 30 guys with that same deck with a 10 card variance, maybe even 40.
You just have to be able to envision a world without the internet and guys only playing by stoping by card shops and kitchen table play. But my main point is we can't live in that world. But damn some players just don't have the class, peer pressure about loosing and if I dont play that deck somebody else will and since it's good they have a better chance of winning so I guess I play it too... whatever...
PLAY YOUR OWN DECKS and DON'T SHARE DECKLISTS
OK can I just say stop wineing . Now I spend 750.00 on ever set that comes out tthat doesn't include what I buy at the hobby store probly 200.00 a week .I'n the past 3 years I've spent 19400.00 dollars thats about what I've spent ok so what ever I hate when people say stuff like that . 2nd OK if every one is playing a certin archatype Than build a counter deck thats All Blow them out of the water by building something that slaps them around Thats what makes VS sooooo Good . I built a LOA deck that just wips the floor with peoples milling ecks and just about every thing out there so just be inventove and do some Metagame studying .
Mono Team Decks , restricted by universe. Team ups restricted to a maximum of two teams , resticted by universe. Plot twists and locations the only thing that can be interchanged deck to deck. From this point on team stamp almost everything ! Generic Plot Twists would still be made in modest number.
Do this and the casual scene will explode. Comic fans that follow canon strictly will take the game more seriously. It will give the game a soul while balancing it.
When tommy says that 7 of the 8 decks were the same I will have to agree. Here is why:
Frankie raye
Phantom Stranger
Poison Ivy
Dr. Light
Straight to the Grave
Enemy of my Enemy
Slaughter Swamp
Avalon Space Station
Soul World
Mikado and Mosha
Deadshot
Political pressure
Dr. Doom (3)
All seven decks share most if not all of these cards. FTN was even discussing on a thread here on realms that they would add poison ivy, frankie, and phantom stranger to thier deck.
All the decks have the same goal esentially. That is to push the game into the later turns where they can win. Each deck does this differently. The x-stall decks use puppet master + prof x or rogue to do this. The doom decks use, well, doom. The similarities to the PC top 8 is very similar to type 1 magic. All the best decks play the same 20-30 cards. Power 8, yawgmoths will, brainstorm, force of will, sol ring, mana crypt and vault. The division is how each deck wants to win. TDC uses galactus, the xstall decks use galactus 9 or prox 8. Prosak used devils due. Just as in magic where each deck runs the same cards but wins differently, like tendrils of agony, mindslaver, artifact creatures, or any other win condition.
I believe this is what tommy was trying to say. So for all the naysayers, yes the decks arent the same, but they are similar enough that the format may be warped by these overly powerful cards.
This is a pretty rediculous statement. The longer games went, the more likely TDC Stall would win the game in nearly every matchup. Are you denying that you personally, as well as at least some of your teamates practice intentional slow play for whatever reason?
Looking back, my statement may not have been relevant but it definately wasnt ridiculous. I personally saw a few games with teamates of yours where wins were based on positive endurance totals being compared but i'll take your word that it wasnt the norm.
So, the question becomes: "If you are not looking to slow play as a form of preventing a certain turn from happening, why employ slow play at all?"
I have my theory but i would be interested to see if i'm right before posting it (maybe in a more suitable thread).
my contention is that slow play is not happening. I play my turns deliberately and I even helped my opponent's reach turns b/c they asked me to play quickly that we would have not reached otherwise. I'm not trying to sound pious, that exact situation happened at this PC. As for the internal intention of my teammates, I witnessed none, and can't speak for what motives are behind their eyelids, but I can defend what I witnessed and heard about.
I just don't know what matchups you are watching where we are going to lose otherwise in later turns. Maybe a Ra's 8 matchup. I think we won our Galactus 9 matchups. The games actually get easier the later turns we go to with the deck. I had a game where me and my opponent were both at 60 endurance at the beginning of my initiative on turn 7. The game ended naturally on that turn. I went 8-2 and lost my two matches on early turns.
I do not deny the fact that unlike stall decks we have played in the past, this one is capable of winning despite time being called on an early turn and that time is almost always called on 6-7, which is naturally advantageous for our deck. I don't think, however, that we were intentionally making those the turns time was called during. I might have won one of my matches on time, but I honestly can't remember which it was, if that did happen.
