There's another thread on the subject of UDE not yet posting the promised OP update? Where? Or do you just mean another thread that questions UDE's management of the game? I know you want to lump it all together into the "Players Whining About UDE Again" bucket for convenience's sake, but there are many individual problems that UDE has created for themselves, and each one is worthy of separate discussion.
Let's see:
There is the No More PCQ thread talking about the potential ramifications of the OP Announcement and how the announcement still has not been made yet.
There is also the STICKIED thread about Scott's most recent post that gave the announcment of the new website, Hellboy, as well as restating that the OP announcement would be on Monday.
i say we all just have a rumble like in gangs of new york or.. anchorman (fight scene was a spoof of the gangs fight scene i'm sure of it) you really gotta keep your head on a swivel when you find yourself in a cockfight
To say that the new sets will bring in a bunch of people just does not make sense to me. There is only a limited amount of people who want to/play card games. Of this pool, there is an amount who play VS. Those who don't play VS, but play card games, most have tried it and not enjoyed it. Most people I know who have lost interest in the game have done so because of UDE's poor management of the game. Not bad sets. The sets are amazing and I don't think anyone can argue against that, same with the game in general. But the reason people have left is because of the mismanagement.
The whole issue of the set thing, is a symptom, not the root. Sets will bring people in temporarily, but the way the game is handled will hold them. And right now it isn't being handled to well.
Just as an example, two plus weeks ago the OP schedule was getting the finishing touches. Now close to three weeks later, it still isn't out. (Even though it is coming out today) The last big event was almost 3 months ago. That is a fourth a year without anything significant.
For people sticking up for UDE, do what you must. The truth is the constructive criticism most people are giving is what will make the game last. Not hiding and saying UDE is doing everything good. With the mentality that everything is alright, problems won't be seen until we are upon them which is where we are now, a problem.
Finally, as for all the negative posts on here driving people away, I don't believe it. People want a realistic game preview, to make things look all fine and dandy would be deceiving and would drive away even more players. Other than the game being fun, and good sets being released, there isn't much "good" to talk about in the game now anyway from a competitive standpoint.

However, WHY do you think they were making all these changes in the first place?
How many 'new' things have they announced?
They've changed how 10Ks worked ... making them into 50Ks. They've changed the PC structure, they've reduced the number, upped the prize money, put one in a location that can help the international Vs. community by giving them an annual 'vacation location' PC.
They are making changes based on the initial constructive criticism.
It's called growing pains. UDE is changing based on the requests of the players. Having the players then complain about the problems caused by the changes sends a mixed message of players being ungrateful, not knowing what they want [since the changes are an attempt to give what we asked for a while ago].
Change takes time ... and currently they are changing to what we asked them to change to. All I'm asking [I don't speak for Stu, etc] is that people at least wait and see WHAT they are doing so they know what they are complaining about. Complaining about a lack of information is fine and dandy ... but it's hard for UDE to do anything outside of trying to give us information sooner [which they HAVE been doing, for the most part, with Scott G's news posts on Metagame].
However, you can't alter the space time barrier ... and there are still situations where giving out information BEFORE things are finalized is irresponsible, and possibly even illegal depending on what contracts are involved.
and you are saying the competitive part of the game is the only reason to play? or the million threads complaining are warranted? or is the game state what yoiu make it and people are overreacting? i think it's all blown out of purportions and people need to relax a little more

I'm not saying everything is perfect. I said there were issues. However, saying that the game is dying, or that UDE is purposefully trying to sabotage the game(!), does not do anything to help the game last. Constructive criticism would be saying "If it's a management issue, look into new management", "Please revamp Hobby League", "Less obscure characters and more mainstream ones", "Do something to get new players into the game." Those are constructive criticisms, and they have all been taken to heart by UDE and adopted.
"Give us OP information or we quit" is arguably constructive. And even if it is, it's already been said. So they gave everyone a date that the information would be announced. Today is that day. Patience is a virtue.

WTF? If you had never been to McDonalds before, and saw a picket line out front shouting "McDonalds is trying to kill you by hiding giant knives in their big macs!", you'd probably walk away. If you walked up and saw a clean, bright, friendly environment with a big "over one billion served" sign... you wouldn't think "why isn't there a picket line telling me what's wrong with this place?".

In answer to the original question, no a delayed announcement wouldn't make me leave. I had way too much fun at the MTU sneak and am too stoked for Hellboy's release.
I've stumbled my way to 10 points under the illusion that I'm playing for the competitive juices. I'm really playing because I'm having fun. If money were my only concern, I'd likely pick up Magic.

No one is saying give us OP information or we quit, or atleast I am not. For some of us who enjoy competition, thats the reason we play. I don't play for the money only, I play because it is a good game that rewards good players. I personally wouldn't play if there wasn't OP because I could never justify the money put in with no rewards. (for me casual play is not so fun) Without the program I would/could maybe justify a starter deck or two. Not all the rewards are monetary either, for some its the competitive aspect itself, for others product etc. I can only be patient for so long, I feel I have been more than my fair share. Waiting on checks, HL, Tournament packs, etc.
