Anyways, great series so far. Tracked down first prints of 2, 3, and 4, and read 1 in the trade at B&N. Have yet to read issue 5. I highly recommend it.
And thanks for the input, Charles. Wasn't sure if I was just being a perv or not.

NP, dude. You were being a perv, but with good reason. The whole Riverdale scenario is twisted beyond words. I am loving this series, can't wait for the new story arc that continues in #7, "Betty RIP".

Yeah. I think I'm more excited for the new Sabrina solo series coming out. Looks absolutely twisted.
I did have one minor quibble with GOTG. And it wasn't a big deal, but...
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Apparently Lee Pace (the actor that plays Ronan as well as Thranduil in the Hobbit movies) uses the exact same voice for both, and it was a touch distracting. LEGOLAS, NOW WE BURN XANDAR!!! Ahem.
Not a huge thing, as I said, but it was a little weird.
The movie itself was amazing. It wasn't the BEST EVAR Marvel movie, but it's definitely right up there. Also, Meryl Yondu was great.
Yeah, that was pretty righteous. I just got home from seeing it and it was excellent. Right up there with Cap 2 and X-Men this summer.

Thing is, they both seem like competent actors. I figured most actors would categorically pass on the premise of Selfie. If they had called it by another name, I'd probably give it a chance. As it is, I've got The Flash, Gotham, and Constantine to watch this fall.
Okay, my Mafia brothers and sisters, I highly recommend giving this week's episode of This American Life, called "Got Your Back" a listen. The first Act is around a game I've never heard of, called Diplomacy, which I think us Mafia fans would get a huge kick out of. The descriptions of backstabbing an alliances sounded really cool and familiar.

Even competent actors have to pay the bills, IR.

Played Diplomacy a bunch with friends, fantastic game.
It's not for everyone though, as it is VERY slow and there is a lot of nothing that goes on, and unfortunately the balance isn't really completely even, as some countries stand no chance unless they ally with someone right away.
All in all though, fantastic game like I said, and I would highly recommend it to most everyone to at least try once.
Yeah, but there are standards. Who knows, maybe the title is the only bad thing about it. It just seems destined to fail with a title like that.

And yes, lots of backstabbing and treachery.

I read the Grantland piece, very well done. The game is basically a sociopath's playground and sounds like something we all would have fun with. Just have to remember mafia rule #2. Don't take it personally.

Actually, when you have to pay the bills, there's less standards than you think. Plus it's a series. Ergo, regular paychecks.
Seriously, look at the IMDB for some actors. And try not to cringe.

Diplomacy is just... ugh. I can't be as evil in a tabletop game that I can be online. I'm really a pretty honest person IRL, and am absolutely horrible at games like that. In other words... my poker face? Nonexistent.

Never played it, but a friend of mine has. And one of his stories involves playing a game at another friend's house, where two of the other players kept going into another room for private negotiations. This other room was a baby's room, complete with baby monitor....with the other end hooked up in the room the game was being played in.

I played Diplomacy once, years ago. The treachery part is fun, but boy does it take forever to set up and play. Never did muster enough interest to play it again. I wouldn't mind giving it another try someday, though I thought that the board game was out of print.
In other news, I got busy over the weekend and did not get around to seeing Guardians. This is an oversight that must be corrected, I know.
