Yup - you're right, some of those characters have a history, but with the repaints it's not worth mentioning IMO. I've been using hand ninja for "League Assassin" subs for a long time now, so it's not a real revelation for me to have them made. Not that I'm complaining either. Still, bump the count for original characters by +3, and you still have a lot of unmades left.
Personally, for my excitement level to be high, I need lots of non-generic, non-repaint, non-chase, never-been-clixed-before characters. From B&B that makes for me:
20. Damien Wayne
21. The Holiday Killer
22. Cave Carson
23. Max Mercury
24. Mikron O' Jeneus/Gizmo
32. Kryptonite Man
37. Extant
38. Inertia
44. Black Flash
I exclude Jason Blood as he's a redo of that one click of Legacy's Etrigan. I exclude all the generics. I exclude all the repaints of generics, even if some of those are actual characters. (The only one I feel remotely bad about excluding is "the" Parademon.) I exclude Brainiac (he might not be the pre-Crisis Icons robot, but he is the Hypertime Brainiac 13 robot).
So for me, my excitement level for B&B was 9/60, about a 15% excitement level. If I include "the" Parademon, then that's still only a 17% excitement level. And that's not even taking into account whether or not I actually *like* these specific 9 or 10 characters.
Compare to Hammer of Thor, with about a 39/60 = 65% excitement level to see a difference. (And that's excluding the generics though the HoT generics are far more exciting than the B&B generics.) Even Web of Spider-Man (focusing on remaking a *ton* of Spidey friends and enemies) is about a 50% excitement level.
And with the DC75 previews, the new guys are: Crimson Avenger, Atrocitus, Larfleeze, and the Wonder Twins out of 22 characters (here, I am assuming the White Lanterns are all remakes), so the previews give me an 18% excitement level, which is still remarkably low, especially compared to HoT.
I'd like to see Will Payton. I'd prefer to see Thom Kallor as Star Boy.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
I'd say-- just don't count the White Lanterns until they are previewed. The fact that the 10 number came out has made so many people extrapolate from there, as if that means that most of the set will be similarly modern or special remakes.
For all we know, the handful of Lanterns + the White Lanterns are the *only* modern characters, leaving 40+ characters to fill out the set.
Previews aren't a scientific sample-- they're leaked for reasons. That's why we know about the Big Three (they sell), the Lanterns (they're hot)... and the others are chosen to represent the time spread-- 30s/40s, 1960, 1990.
You can extrapolate from the lanterns and get a half-modern set-- or you can think that that's most of the modern stuff and assume 40+ figures from DCs past-- which is pretty consistent with Theme content in a Heroclix set.
As far as remakes vs non-remakes-- that's hard to say. But the ones shown are characters who really are deserving of being in clix and really needed an update-- or are the Big Three who are in most every set.
I certainly can't say. I stopped reading new comics awhile ago; I probably don't know who half of the "modern" characters are. And what little I've seen, like the Skittle Lanterns, certainly aren't making me rethink my decision to stick to Archives and Masterworks.
I don't read many new comics myself-- but in BatB, there certainly weren't many recent comics characters. Damien Wayne, Kid Zoom, and the Black Lanterns chases. Inertia, I suppose, though I think he's over 10 years old.
I don't see why 75th Av. should be any different. Espeicallly if they've slotted 10 White Lanterns and a few other color ones, why would there be any push to include a lot of other recent characters? I'd *like* to see the New Mister Miracle, more Great Ten members, and Dwarfstar, but that's about it. And technically, the "new" Mister Miracle is about as old as the old one.

I thought I read somewhere that R Origin Mister Miracle was supposed to be the Shilo iteration. Or am I making that up?

I think that was the theory at the time, but it doesn't have the Seven Soldiers keyword to solidify the fact. It also has the New Gods keyword- Shiloh isn't technically a God.

Ah, alright. Wasn't sure.

I'll bet an SR from DC 75 against the first person willing to take it, that at least 40 characters in this set are more than 10 years old and not specific versions like Red or White Lantern versions.
To be clear, just having a new costume would not count, but a new ID or powerset would.
So "new" Mister Miracle would count as a modern character, but John Stewart would not. White Lantern Green Arrow would be new, but Hal Jordan GL in an updated costume would not be.

Any takers?
Sure, I'm in.
