Magog + Leech + Astral Strange (25 pt IG power space mind) + Cosmo
I'm still learning this team but man is it good. This really may be the best team I have running, though more testing is necessary. So far only played a few games and had a hard time with Cyborg Superman. Misplayed, missed a clutch roll in the opening blitz (a 5) and ended up losing but it was a very good game. I also think Cyborg is a unique counter unlike any other fig to Magog blitz.
If you don't mind me asking (I'm sorry) but what is that Stranger team you're testing and that apparently is working well? I'm trying to get one on a trade (this time no money to buy GG bricks) and I'd like to see what you've been doing with him.

Magog is lots of fun, you could be losing the whole game until he activates his trait and swings it back in your favor.

Thanks!
I think mostly people are using this one:
Stranger + Gauntlet 228
AIM Renegade x2 68
=296
I think there's discussion over the best Gem now that we have options. Personally I favor Time Gem, but I'm not sure there's a wrong gem for him.

jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.
If you use Leech the right way, i.e. position strategically/correctly, he is very powerful. It's takes some practice and forethought though so that he does more good than harm. Even without his Trait, he works well as a Stealthy Outwitter, and usually makes your opponent waste an attack/expose themselves to get rid of them.
My H/W link does not reflect the wants for my collection, it is a list of figures that I already have, but still "want" to play.

Leech off to the side, do the double TK thing with Magog then next turn double TK Leech in to lock them down? Or Vica Versa? Leech in first to distract and slow them and prevent Barrier, then next turn Magog comes in?

Opening move depends on who you are facing, whether or not you can gimp your opponent's hitter in one hit or not. Against cyborg it was unlikely so I had to go to for two support pieces first (Aim Renegade and Tony stark, but i missed a five on tony)
I start with strange next to leech, free action move leech up away from cosmo/magog, move up cosmo and magog, pick up a heavy. Next turn clear cosmo and magog, move leech up another 7 with strange. Turn 3 if i need 1 tk to get magog in there i use 1, otherwise I can free action position with strange for a double tk. With double tk you dont have enough actions to tk, tk, attack w magog, and then move leech, so leech has to already be in a good position (which isnt that tough since you have 14 squares to move him on the first two turns). If you dont need the second tk (which is possible when you can lock down their move and attack) then its nearly gg since magog can precision kill one or two figs and place such that leech prevents counterattack by moving him into position with w strange. Next turn, free action move leech away, kill more people, move him back into position with an actual move action or w/e is appropriate.
Basically being able to phase leech around 7 (or 14 with a free and actual move action) lets you place him perfectly to lock down opponent's move and attack. Then magog needs less mobility to slaughter who he needs to, but still has the double tk option if necessary. With strange around as a taxi I only had one turn out of the games I played where leech stopped magog from charging, and there wasn't really anything I could do about it. (Magog was behind a building, tk'ed him out with cosmo, tked him up with strange, charged and killed a sun boy with a heavy, picked up another heavy and based a pushed superman for the kill next turn. Leech prevented the second charge in that 26 square movement combo)
BTW mind is not necessary as a gem, I threw it on there because I had extra points and once you use strange for 3 non free actions you have to start turning the gauntlet or lose him. Mind gem gives you a 50/50 chance of keeping tk after this happens. Power gem gives you the option on that first click to free action to a barrier (or a low defense support piece) and pop it for 3 (2 on clix 2 and 3) with CCE. I am also debating rolling the gauntlet on strange with this setup from the get-go, losing his carry / tk 50% of the time but hopefully eventually hitting #2 and getting powers like support (magog only has a 14 ending defense, even astral strange only needs a 6 or 7 to hit it) or prob or plex or w/e. This is likely the wrong strat against 80% of teams but against a team like cyborg which will last longer than you like, it could be the way to go...Many more games needed, this is the glassiest cannon I've ever played but man I love it
One final note in this wall of text: Turn 1, if appropriate, you can phase strange 7 with leech then another 7 as a regular move so leech can power drain squares 20 squares away from his starting zone immediately. Next turn strange can double back for the double tk with leech already in position
I dont know if it was mentioned before (I think i saw one post mention him about 4-5 pages ago) but Black Bolt is a good blitz option instead of Magog.
A friend mentioned this yesterday after I told him about the Magog + Leech team:
Black Bolt 193
Astral Strange + Space 28
Xavin 75
296
Not sure if this is better or worse than magog, but will have to try it. On its face it loses the leech option (which I think is huge) and no move and attack on black bolt. On the other hand, you can pump BB's attack to a 13, double tk, and hit a good chunk of their team for 4 without having to worry about shape change / senses etc. However, Black Bolt has to push to do this where Magog doesn't necessarily. If I had to guess I'd say the advantage goes to Magog since leech lets you deal with barrier, as well as a host of other problems a blitz team might have. Worth playtesting though.

As much as I love me Black Bolt I just don't think it works here at 300. A single barrier ruins it, and it kind of needs a follow up attack/tie-up to stall.
I mean, it will work on a local level, and wreck a LOT of teams easily. But depending on how things pan out it could have serious trouble at larger events especially with as prevalent as the Realm of Death might become as a map choice.

Hmmm. How about Leech with IG + Time Gem? According to his Trait, he won't prevent himself from taking a power action. So he can TK someone out 8 squares (out of Leech range) and they can do their thing. He can then take an unavoidable to gain Outwit and keep TK. Has some Super-Senses in there if needed.
Is it worth 50 points though? Especially compared to Cosmo at 52 (or 56)?

Play tested against the Stranger team. I'm pretty sure now that the answer to Stranger and barrier is Air Ross. You just need to build a team around him. After he does his first push you have someone that can benifit from his enhancement and can taxi him your good to go. I don't know what this means for Stranger on Stranger battles. I'm confident in saying that Air Ross will be meta. I think everything is limited down a bit more.
Air Ross and fIller
Stranger Barrier
Generic gauntlet attacker team (2 figure or 3 figure)
Astral Strange IG team
Tester or Galactus (I have to do a proxy game to see that)
