Wait - you don't see the sheer genius of that? Legos where finding the right piece has a resource gathering/role playing element and there is absolutely zero cleanup required? Legos that don't involve me stepping on a piece in the dark? Legos that let you build a mile-high cat fountain?
Minecraft is great if you're looking for a sandbox experience where you can build things. Already been said, but it's like digital legos. Sadly, I find it more relaxing than I do engaging. Still a nice way to pass some time though. I've dropped a large chunk of time into Minecraft. If you have creative friends to play with, this experience becomes pretty great.
Terraria is another option if you're looking for that style of game. This one is a 2D side-scroller, but still has all the mining and crafting and building that Minecraft has. Terraria feels more like a 'game' than Minecraft does though. There's a progression of enemies, boss fights, cooler loot items, etc.
Then, there's Starbound, which is like Sci-Fi Space Terraria. It's still in phase 1 beta right now, but I'm having a blast with it. I feel that it is leaps and bounds better than both Minecraft and Terraria.
So, basically, unless you actually have the people who will show up for the "build it and they will come" part of Minecraft, it's going to be like building Euro-Disneyland?
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

LoL. Pretty much, yeah. There are some pretty awesome online communities out there though, if you wanted to get into one of those. But I've always found it more fun with people I know.
I just looked at the four robot masters they are including.
...no Gutsman? Really?
And the two add-ons are Time Man and Oil Man?
The hell?!
How about instead of giving us a bajillion Mega Mans in one game you give us all 6 of the main robot masters and THEN throw in Time Man and Oil Man? Way to jumble the legacy...

It's a kickstarter. Those classic enemies will be stretch goals. They never give all the good stuff up front. Gotta make us work for it.

Regardless, I'm in for the $130 tier.
I'm pretty over Kickstarter. I backed, I think, 3 projects? Which were pretty cool, but I'm not sure why it makes sense for me to put down money now on a preorder for something I won't get for a year (conveniently after my credit card protections have expired, if I want to get cynical about it).

Good for them. Stretch goals would be things like Mega Man 2 expansion, or Time Man and Oil Man since they are from Powered Up!. I doubt I will be backing this.

Well, I can only speak for my own experiences, but in cases like the Reaper Bones stuff, both Zombiecide seasons, Relic Knights, and a few other games I've backed - I typically got 2-3 times my money's worth after all the stretch goals were done.
Paying $100 for something and then it releases with an MSRP of $324.99 and the cheapest I can find it for online is $240-$250 makes me feel OK about the purchase.
