Can't they just wink at us and say "Hey, we know and you know it's a comic book book. Reed and Ben are vets of WW2, but they'll never reach 40 as far as our books are concerned, even though the war ended in 1945.
For awhile there, I think it was when Byrne was writing, they were refered to as being vets from the Korean war.
Now, they might mention they're vets, but not of which war. However, Ben is now an Airforce vet, rather then an Army flyer. As the Air Force did not actually exist in WW2, that means it's shifted to another war.
Anyhow... Give me a minute, I'm just tyring to write up a new question.
It's JTR's turn, and you know what that means. 3 or 4 posts of snark followed by a question.
Look who is talking. First, I was waiting on KW to see if I got it right, and was enjoying the banter whilst waiting. Then when he did confirm, I was about to go to sleep and so I didn't want to leave a question out there and then come back to try to hunt through every single post made afterwards to see if anyone came up with the right answer.
Now, admitedly, my principle that guides my life is "Always suspect the worst of others. You'll rarely be disappointed.", but a lighter more positive way of things is to "Always suspect the best of others. And watch as your hope is crushed like crackers in a fat man's bed. And the Fat man is angry. And the fat man has a sledgehammer. And the fat man is yelling, "Die Crackers, Die!".
And won't the 9/11 issues look like anachronisms in 20 years?
That's always a problem; what's "topical" today is hopelessly dated very quickly. Steve Englehart had that problem when he wrote the "secret origin" of the Justice League of America, placing it in 1959. Someone must have liked it, though; expand it a bit and you've got New Frontier.

It's funny, I didn't think I'd like "New Frontier" for that very reason, even tho I like Golden Age stories. But then I saw the movie and liked it so ended up reading the comic and I found myself actually enjoying it. Tho, I still think they should've used Kevin Conroy as Batman's voice again. Jeremy Sisto was "OK", but...
The question I was going to ask was too complicated and I dont' want to hog the board for several days again. So, this one is just going to be simple till I figure out how to re-word the other one I was going to ask.
Gordan Keefer is better known under what villianous alias?
The only first name I ever knew he had was "Monk", but the only Keefer I know in the Marvel Universe is Ape-Man of the Ani-Men/Unholy Three.
I figured DiZo was hibernating, so I'd ask that question.
Yes, Gordan Keefer was/is indeed the Ape-Man.
(I'm not sure, but I think he's dead these days).
Not so much hibernating as getting caught up on end-of-the-month real life work stuff, but, yeah, I knew that one, too. Props to CuCr for beating me to the draw again...
JTR gets it again. Nicholette Gold is better known as Nikki of the Guardians of the Galaxy, all of whom hold honorary membership in the Avengers (from the time the GotG and Avengers battled Korvac). Guess I've got her on the brain as I've recently been commissioned to do mods of Nikki, Charlie-27 and Martinex, the original GotG that WizKids didn't do.
Omar Khayam Rasch is better known by what villianous alias ???
Just a wild guess...Fasaud (not sure if that's spelled right)...
Like some other people here I've also had real life/work stuff which kept me from joining the conversation about Marvel's 48 year vs. 13 year history. What's unfortunate is the Marvel has not either...
Split their world(s) as DC did with Earth 1 - 2 - S etc. Marvel does a TON of parallel worlds, but that's not the same.
Taken advantage of the number of times the universe has been destroyed and re-made - or taken over by "Evil" (Wanda's done it once, Dormammu's done it, Thanos has done it twice, I remember at least one other Dr. Strange story where he had to "re-make" the universe...and I know I'm forgetting some) - to say that each time the universe was re-made subtle changes occured that "re-set" the Marvel clock (like a mini "COIE")
Allowed people to age (I find it funny that the kids from Power Pack seem to be now "older" than Franklin) and build a continuity (evil word at Marvel) and/or family history - I know this is unlikely to happen as Marvel would have to commit to a future timeline (I keep wondering WHY only once in Marvel's history - that I can remember - has someone come back in time to make sure their timeline DOES happen - anyone in the Marvel U that can time travel must know that there are a BUNCH of idiots trying to make sure their future doesn't happen - I'd be worried with that many idiots mucking with time that my future may not happen...gotta make sure it does)
Unfortunately...Marvel has ret-conned their universe so much that it's a worse mess than Sentry's origin/history and they are more interested in re-doing their past than finding a future.
