Adam Strange, Zeta Beam, Zeta Beam again and Wally, the living underpants of doom (those were originally Wildcats "lucky" underpants, he used them in every boxing match and never washed them. Then, one day, the underpants came to life, broke free of their confines, which were Ted's trunks, and attacked the crowd. Ted lost the championship that day, as well as some pride).
1. Extant
2. (I think it was the Helmet of Fate)
3. An old style sailing/clipper ship
4. (Can't remember)
I remember a story with Extant (not Zero Hour...I think) of him travelling through time/space on something like a Spanish Galleon (but I can't remember the rest - either that or I'm delusional...not sure which at the moment)...but I can't remember the story...grrrrr...I'm gonna get this
I'm just impressed someone got the reference to Poirot...I was watching "Death on the Nile" the other night so that's why it came to me...
My Mother use to read every Poirot and Ms Marple book and watch every movie and TV show that involved them. I grew up with them around me. The series with David Suchet stays closer to the books then any other series or movie.
Thanks!
And apparently not a lot of people have read it (or remember it)
IMO it really was a fun read, but you know me, I love modern treatments of Golden Age characters in Golden Age settings!
Je Suis Charlie!
"Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can." John Wesley
OK...so I was barking up the wrong tree initially...but NOW I remember and I think I got it...
1. Lord Dynamo
2. Starman's Star Sceptre
3. A giant zeppelin (with lightning rods and and a zombie crew if I remember correctly)
4. Johnny Thunder
(I haven't dug them out...but I think that's right - and yes it's a great story - if you like the JSA and/or old pulp type stories)
ding ding ding ding ding!!!!
We have a WINNER!
Strange Adventures featuring the JSA was a mini-series that I became aware of only last year and purchased on-line.
I absolutely LOVE it!
Set in the 40's with original characters and settings (no horrid ret-conning) and good art, characterizations consistent with the original All Star books from the 40's but with more contemporary (OK, better!) writing!
Definitely worth a read for any JSA IMO!
The thread is yours sir!

Odd... I read most of that. I just didn't think of it. Ah, well.
