My employer is going through an IT re-org. I was told 2 weeks ago that my contract will not be renewed, but may be extended from end of September until the end of year. It is not that I am doing a bad job, my position is being split up into several different teams. My boss is looking for a way to convert me from contract to FTE, but those roles will not be released until Mid-September, I cannot wait on that, changing IT jobs can take weeks if not months, but that may be a good back-up.

I had an interview yesterday, was told they are moving fast to get a fresh new team in place and would let everyone know no later than Friday. It is a full time work from home, only requiring an in office trip 2 to 4 times a year.

Also really tired of social distancing.

Miss hanging out on the weekends with friends and neighbors.

Dude, weren't you doing multiple jobs in your one position? i.e. doing everything!!!! That sucks that they are deciding to split up your position to possibly help you out but ultimately not helping you out.

Yes, I was doing the job I was hired for and filling in for someone who left, in November 2019. My job is being split into 2, maybe 3 parts and going to separate teams, so that means I was doing the 'work' of 3 or 4 people in the new organization. I asked if I could take 2 of the 3 positions at 1.5x my current salary, my boss said that he wished it worked that way.

I interviewed for the vacant Citrix Engineer position, which finally got posted.

I'm the opposite. I'm tired of people not social distancing. And refusing to wear masks. Every time I go to the store, I have to deal with a bunch of walking petri dishes that don't wear masks and don't maintain proper distance despite 6 ft increments being clearly marked on the floor by the checkout line.

Me too. Especially the mask thing. It saves lives, and most masks are basically paper thin. Why not take just 5 extra seconds to cover your breathing holes during a breath-spread pandemic?
