Now you've got both. In the final issue of SSoSV, when the Wizard's team was picking off the JSA members, there was a second plotline wherein the Silver Ghost hired Mirror Master's team to kill the Freedom Fighters. Both titles were canceled before that storyline could go anywhere. I think it wrapped up in Canceled Comic Cavalcade.
I recall all of that, I only thought that Freedom Fighters had been cancelled ahead of the Implosion.
I was reading all of those titles (and more) an the Implosion left me very shocked at the time. When no comics came out for a week or two, I thought maybe DC Comics was done making comics.
New Question:
Name 5 DC Explosion backup features.

Actually they wrapped it up in two different places, years apart.
The SSOSV storyline was wrapped up in JLA (and it's the same storyline that eventually led to the Identity Crisis mini)
The Freedom Fighters storyline was wrapped up in....DC Comic Presents (Superman/Freedom Fighters) in the LETTER PAGE of all places.
Always loved those books. I even have the Amazing World of DC Comics issue with the "alternate" SSoSV #1.

I knew about the JLA wrap-up; I was only referring to the wrap-up of the storyline on which I based my question. I had forgotten about the DCCP lettercol explanation; I read that when it first came out, in 1983!
I used to love team-up comics back in the day, but I think part of the fun would be gone these days. One of the things I loved about them, back then, was the surprise of who the next guest star would be. This was in pre-internet days, when we didn't know eight months in advance the contents of every comic coming out.

The other thing that hurts it now is the "specialness" is gone. With ongoing mega-events, teams ups are now just everyday accourances. It used to be a big deal when the JLA and JSA teamed up once a year. Now, it's expected every other month or something.

True, so true! Well, I gave up on new comics years ago. When I was a kid, a new comic cost 25¢ and gave me about $2.25 worth of entertainment; when I finally quit altogether, the reverse was true.
I got nothing. The following are trademarked all rights reserved Wyld guesses:
Firestorm
The Haunted Tank
Aquaman
Captain Marvel
Richard Dragon

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.
