Umm... Where is everybody?
Played a couple of games this weekend using the Build Your Own Superteam scenario. We had to play three-player as one of our guys couldn't make it, but I took both games. Spike, the LPC dice were rollin' hot again! Down side was that I was up until 2 am and didn't recover very well yesterday. On top of that, I woke up to 4 inches of snow on the ground this morning.
I didn't go to Harvard or Yale but I can kick a man in the crotch as well as any other.
So very tired...Toy Fair is a demanding mistress...

Just a weekend of frustration. Trouble with the drunk dad and brutal teams played in tournaments by people who neither needed the prize nor needed to play the type of team they used to win.
In the end, I'm powerless to get the dad to deal with why he does what he does. This is how its going to be until the day he dies. Thankfully I haven't come to look forward to that day I'm scared that it will happen.
And I have no right to tell people what to play. I understand cut-throat teams from people who need the prize. But I question the motivation from someone who is a judge (so he had the prize) and had another team to play. I was told by him that he would only play the nasty team "if it was needed." Whatever that means.

Sorry to hear. If it makes you feel any better I had to deal with my enebriated wife on Saturday night. After a delightful night of clix, my wife gets home from a night out with the girls. Don't get me wrong, I love my wife but when she drinks she gets very irritating and a little beligerant.

Bummer. I guess that's one of the reasons I never felt bad about not having a tournament scene around here.
Hopefully your week gets better!

I think I broke my cold. I might do something productive today.

At the two IG events I ran, I think overall I saw more poor behavior from the same trio of players than brutal teams. Jeez, this one particular player acted as if winning the In-Betweener were a life-or-death situation. This dude left any manners and courtesy he had at home, apparently.
On Wednesday, the guy loudly argued with his fiancee (a newer player he brought to the venue) over her lack of Clix experience to the point where she's crying in the shop out of frustration. (In hindsight, I suspect that the tears were all an act.) The guy's been told by me and several players to knock it off. I'm assigning tables for matches as a result and to keep those two apart. I think I need to find a cardboard stand-up of Jerry Springer and place it as a barrier between those two as well.
The dude hovers over me while I'm tallying up scoresheets just to see the results of everyone else's matches and see who's received fellowship votes. I mean, the dude is literally blocking my light because he's standing over me. When he did it on Saturday, I was like, "Seriously? You're going to stand over me while I'm calculating scores? It's like being in Catholic school and having a nun watch over you. Go. Away."
I've also noticed that he, his fiancee, and another new player he brought always vote for one another for fellowship. On Wednesday, the dude got all butt-hurt because none of his crew received the fellowship prize and stormed out of the shop. I chose to give it to another player who was far more deserving of the recognition.
I won't feel bad if I have to give all three the boot (permanently or temporarily) as I had a couple of former players, along with a group of players from another shop, come up to me on Saturday tell me they were interested in playing at my venue.
The player in my case is a good guy. I'm sure he was just trying to make sure his buddy, who didn't get one (in two prior events), got one. But the player in question, aside from being a judge, is a very strong player. He did not have to play 2 common Supermen, SI Spidey, 2 researchers, an AIM Agent and Professor X to win. It just struck me as overkill from that player. Especially when the guy he was looking out for played a Mystic/Bag-Man/wildcard team (i.e. he hardly needed the help). At the end of the game I told him that I hope he had fun, because I had none.
