I also got very irritated with his constant comparisons of himself to Tony Stark. He LOVED Iron Man, and was almost frighteningly devout to him. He said that they were both cocky, and he loved Tony's attitude. That speaks volumes, because Tony Stark is a dick, which is one of the reasons I'm not a fan of him (Iron Man is cool, but I just can't stand how much of a jerk Tony Stark is). Not to mention the fact that the character he worshiped isn't a real person, in addition to being probably the worst role model...
I personally didn't like how he marginalized Cap on his Avengers teams.
Secret Warriors was just one too many Bendis ideas for me to take. The characters just seemed real goofy to me. Like the chubby nerd with magical powers just didn't sit well for me. For some reason I felt like he was trying to write himself into the story on that one. Though admittedly I have no idea what bendis looks like.

I don't see that at all. What's wrong with a chubby nerd with magical powers? Not all superheroes can have six-packs and/or double D's!
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
I sincerely hope not, as I think that is a particularly silly reason to drop a book, IMO.
Hence my note about a possibly missed opportunity for self-discovery. If one sees himself in a casual, relaxed circumstance it's easier to allow one's self to realize that what's been putting him off was some minor resentment that had nothing to do with the quality of the work or the concept behind it. Instead, it's easy for people to see it as a hostile, conflicting stage where any admission of such a realization would be a weakness.

Heh. I'm sufficiently out of the loop that I don't know if Janet Van Dyne (nee Pym) has been resurrected as yet. If so, they could have her be a guest-star in the series and every issue she'd deliver new designs for them. One would presume that since these garments are made from unstable molecules they'd be manipulatable by electronic means and so could be hooked up to be programmed to whatever one wanted.
Personally, i can be quite the irreverant misanthrope. In my experience I'm either liked or hated. Not much room for middle-ground. I'd like to think I could drink a beer with anybody, but some people are just plain sticks in the mud.
I describe myself as Dr. Pepper. There are very few people who are "meh" about DP. You either love it and would drink it all the time or absolutely detest it.
I find that people react to me in much the same way.
When it comes to me and how I tolerate other people, however. I have a few questions I can ask that are very telling about sense of humor and stuff that give me a good idea of how well I'll be able to tolerate them.

I think it's silly how some people do have six packs and in great shape. People like Magneto or Professor X. They should just be in decent shape, but their age should show. It's a matter of the art and nobody would want to read a book full of "average" looking people. Personally, my favorite for body shapes in comics was when I read Kingdom Come. Superman looked about the size of an NFL player. That seems about right.

I'm guessing its because fat people are often considered 'bad' by society, and nerds always get a bad rep (why they're still seen as being buck toothed, pocket protector wearing, glasses cleaning, nasally, shirts up to the armpits with suspenders dorks is still beyond me).
The Ever Growing Trickster and Pied Piper KO List!
U Ganthet, Labcoat Beast, Cap and Bucky
Not removing this until we get Clock King and The Rose-01/23/11
Come on, NECA-Marvel Horror Theme Set 2011!

Nothing is wrong with that. Except him trying to fit himself into the books. If that was the case. The other thing was it struck me as catering to the audience a bit too much. Making some nerd in his moms basement think some guy will come along and tell him he has powers is silly to me.

Dr. Pepper just tastes like Cherry Coke or Cherry Pepsi to me. I'm not sure where the whole "23 flavors" comes from. I prefer Mello Yello.

Dude. Dr. Pepper tastes like nothing else on this Earth. It's the nectar of the gods (if the nectar of the gods was healthy it would be much better, but i'll just go with taste alone on this one)!
Yeah, while it eventually became too unbalanced I was a big fan of several of the novels and of the shared universe of creators who got it together in the first place.
Between so much emphasis on super powers, etc. in mainstream media and the attention George R.R. Martin's getting with Game of Thrones I keep wondering why I'm not hearing any plans to develop Wild Cards as something for HBO, Showtime, etc.
