Doom 2099...ok. Doom is my favorite villain but, honestly, I don't really need another one right now.
Punisher 2099. I certainly hope he won't be included. If they do include him, I REALLY hope they don't include that lame looking "bike" of his.
Ravage 2099. Worse than Punisher 2099.
Ghost Rider 2099. Sits about as well as Doom with me right now. Ok, but I'd rather something else.
Hulk 2099. Indifferent.
X-Men 2099. I can't believe that I'm actually hoping for more X-Men over the other choices..... At least these would be different characters.
All the others...whatever.
2099 was my lowest vote out of the five to the point that if I could have left a choice out completely, this would have been it. I'm generally positive about new releases and I'll end up getting them just to be complete but I'm really struggling to be excited about this one.
I don't get where this "anti-2099" stuff is coming from.
DC Fans, what are you complaining about? You already have TWO (2) DC collector's sets already, Giants and the upcoming GL Corps. Invincible represents the non-Big Two in the heroclix world, taking the place of Indy for the moment.
As far as Dark Horse collector's sets, I'd rather see a whole new INDY 2 set than have collector's sets. Collectors Sets are rarer and have only a few characters and are one-shot deals. I know that INDY 2 is probably never going to happen anyway, but that's because of lack of interest in the last one. If people really wanted characters like Grendel and more BPRD, there'd be more petitioning for future indy sets.
We already got a few BPRD characters- sure, they're not tournament legal, and are fairly out of date nowadays and don't have some of the cooler characters, but so what! They still have Hellboy, Lobster Johnson and Rasputin, which is to say more than 2099 Marvel characters. Marvel's 2099 characters were cool reinventions of classic characters, for the most part, and although now defunct, saw some intriguing storylines through the 1990s. It was cyberpunk fiction, but was also entertaining.
Doom 2099 was one of the coolest representations of the character, and a redo of the character for the 2099 version in clix will give players who hated the Ultimate Doom another crack at a cool doom. Because it's very unlikely at this point that we'll see Doom any earlier (although there IS potential in Supernova...). Hulk, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Ravage, these are characters who could be pretty cool looking and playable in heroclix.
Fanwise, Marvel fans should finally get to have a collectors set for them. DC fans have two collectors sets coming, Image fans have a set, and I'm sure it won't be long till Dark Horse finally gets their own as well. Marvel was due.
Astro City and Metal Men, ultimately, just aren't a big enough draw anyway. Wizkids knew what they were doing when they put 2099 on there- they knew that it would win. C'mon, we all did. Yet now there's so much stupid bellyaching over it.
Gotta say, I'm pretty amped for this 2099 action. I remember those shiny, foil framed covers from back in the day . . . Doom 2099 alone is worth this set.
"The pain you perceive... is merely an example of the control I wield over the Power Cosmic. Should you wish to engage in further conflict you stand no chance of victory." -Silver Surfer (Cosmic Powers Unlimited #3)
nope i would have rather had the DC set than this one B^( the 2099 should have been like the spider man was, a unique in the next sets. id rather seen one of the indy sets as a colectors set since we will never get another indy expansion B^(
o well they had beter have a ghost rider in this crapy set kuz thats the only one i actualy liked B^(

(Repeating this ad nauseum...)
Marvel zombies should be content with the fact that they get two full expansions per year, against DC's one and Indy's none. Spider-Man 2099 already made it into FF, and the other, not-at-all interesting 2099 variants of figures we already have could have made it into those future two Marvel expansions per year.
I don't mourn the loss of the Metal Men as a collector's set, but both BPRD, Astro City and Grendel deserve a life as clix, instead yet another Ghost Rider, Punisher, Dr Doom and other useless remakes.

Get over it.
2099 is coming.
Prepare for Doom.
well seeing as how we will most likely never see an indy set again, and that marvel gets two sets for every DC that right there should be reson for never having a marvle colectors set (even though i voted for the runaways last time he he) the reson i say this is because there is a beter chance of us seing them in one of the many marvle sets. and as for Indy not doing to well thats proly kuz wizkids was dumb and didnt put all the figs in the set and made two different sets available one for UK and one for US whitch ticked me off kuz i could care less about stupid danger girl i wanted the other judges from 2000 A.D. and insted of having the stupid witch blade they should have used a beter comic from top cow than one that only had what maybe 4 people you could use in clix form?? it was just bad judgement on wizkids side.
This is such ####! It's bad enough that we get 2+ Marvel expansions a year to 1 DC and 0 Indy (read the WK Q & A thread - Indy will only be done as collector sets from now on), but this collector set will be loaded with remakes when we could have gotten new characters instead. I have a feeling that we might even get a Spidey 2099 redo just so there will be more big names to help the set sell... :-/

I'd rather have the Morlocks.
Or the Runaways.
Or Devil Dinosaur and The Fallen Angels.
Or The Great Lakes Avengers.
Or even the All-Moloid Collector's Set.
I thought (of the 2099 titles) only Spidey 2099 was readable back in the day, and even that was marginal.
2099 was last in my voting. I'm kinda shocked it won. I assumed everybody thought those series were lame. Whadda I know?! I thought BPRD would win despite my Metal Men vote.
At least Ravage can make my "All-Retarded" team along with Night Thrasher and Stilt-Man and Donald Pierce.
For those who did want 2099, how about a little help on how the expected names would differ from their current incarnations? Specifically, Doom, Punisher, Ghost Rider and Hulk as they seem very likely to be made.
This is pure speculation, of course:
Doom: Mastermind is unlikely, but more damage reducers (his armour was significantly more powerful). Outwit is more in character than Perplex. Some Phasing/Teleport, perhaps late-dial. Quite possibly some Leadership, but hopefully not too much! Doom is an older version of Victor Von Doom rather than an entirely new character, so there will be some strong similarities.
Punisher: More close-combat oriented, he's likely to have Exploit Weakness, Flurry, and Perplex somewhere on his dial. First-click Stealth is certain, and Shape Change is a possibility (he had electronic countermeasures that caused his face to look like a pixellated skull logo on camera). Jake Gallows became the Minister for Punishment under President Doom, so the SHIELD team ability would be very appropriate. He typically rode a skycycle, so it's possible that he'd be a double-based transporter. Not necessary, though.
Ghost Rider: Different to both of the current Ghost Riders, I imagine Kenshiro Cochrane to be a close-combat-oriented flying transporter (although he can make ranged attacks). Charge with Invulnerability, Blades/Claws/Fangs, and/or Exploit Weakness. Perplex is very much in character. He could possibly have an "activation click" of Stealth, Invulnerability, and Shape Change (from his holographic field). Some Regeneration for his self-repairing robotic body.
Hulk: Like Ultimate Hulk with less Battle Fury (John Eisenhart retained his intellect as the Hulk) and some B/C/F mixed in with the Super Strength and Quake. A single-based transporter would be cool, especially if we got a Quirk bystander token. Possibly some Perplex, especially if he has an activation click - but Hulk gave up his human form after awhile, so a no-activation-click Hulk is certainly possible. Probably some Regeneration.
That's off the top of my head. I'd have to do a bit of re-reading to check out any particularly interesting power combinations.
Or if they'd have some guts and make the Steve Rogers from 2099, but we can all call this set already. It's going to be "X" related.
Meh. Meh, meh, meh. Oh, yeah. MEH!
Most likely the majority of figures won't be X-Men related....I'm psyched about this set...the first Marvel collector's set(although I would of preferred Runaways) and probably the first one I will buy....

And Hulk...a Hulk with more than one click of Regen and possibly BCFs...should be sweet....Punisher and Ravager could both be decent powerhouses also...

UGH...GET OVER IT....
Just because someone is a fan of Marvel doesn't make them a Marvel zombie...just because they voted for Marvel doesn't mean they are a Marvel zombie...2099 was the only comic listed that I had the SLIGHTEST interest in...Grendel was my last vote, and I went and researched all of them, it just sounded like a very boring storyline....But it's nice when people hurl around insults like that because they are upset they don't get the figures they want....
