He has too many T's in his name. It's not right. It's heresy. He's an abomination; unclean.
As someone with four T's in his name all I can say is...how did you figure that out? Of couse now we must hunt you down and eat your spleen. No, I don't know why your spleen...its a union thing.
What we do in life echoes in eternity!
Respect is a given, only disrespect can be earned.
I can't remember the exact words, but I think he called prize support bribes or something and whined about players at tourney's.
And so what? Having just watched the fallout over the past year, can you REALLY tell me you belive prize support is anything but??
Ok, no new product does hurt (especially if you're on the bussiness end of it).
But how many of our fellow players dropped this game & fled once there weren't official WK prize-supported tournies?
Lack of new product and no weekly prizes did absolutely nothing to change this game we all profess to love. The rules didn't vanish. The existing figures didn't vanish. There's nothing that dictates that you must play at a venue.
Yet there's suddenly alot less players around....
Tournies, events, & prize support are all neat options/extras. But really? They're the worst things you can structure a game around.
I am not going to retype my last response on a very similar thread, but I'll link it.
I'll also be upfront and say that I skimmed most of the thread. I saw plenty of things that I could quote and give some background to. But really, it's been years now, it's clearly not something people listen to.
In summary to everyone who is positive about Mark Tuttle - there were ways in which he interacted with people that left them feeling poorly. That doesn't invalidate your feelings about him. To everyone who is negative about Mark Tuttle - there were ways in which his work on Heroclix was instrumental to making it the game it is now - one that many people, though possibly not you - enjoy. That doesn't invalidate your feelings about him.
My personal experiences were almost universally positive. But that's not worth a fig to anyone here. What I will say is that just about every single thing that is mentioned throughout this thread was likely (a) an innocent omission that occurs when you have to deal with dozens of things an hour, (b) a decision made by committee, with Mark the public face of the decision, and/or (c) a story that we, the public, have only one perspective. Silence on any given issue from Mark or WK does not mean that whatever we think we know is the way things happened.
There are two flaws that can be observed about people in general, particularly on the internet and most notably on message boards - first, the sense of entitlement people have. The fact that you like previews doesn't mean the company has to do them all the time or they are spitting in your face. The fact that the sets had 84 figures in it doesn't mean that moving to 60 figures was a deliberate attempt to get you to drop the game. Life happens - roll with it.
Secondly, the inability to take a moment and consider the other person's perspective. What are things that could very reasonably be going on that might mean that your top issue doesn't even hit someone else's top five? That one person's hurt feelings was not necessarily a deliberate slap in the face, but the culmination of events that were months in the making.
And so what? Having just watched the fallout over the past year, can you REALLY tell me you belive prize support is anything but??

We didn't lose anyone here because the game 'died'. Same players, still going. I agree that prizes are nice to haves... But if you're going to go through the effort & cost of having them then do it right because it will have the added effect of boosting sales.
As for tournies being 'extra', I disagree. If it weren't for tournies I couldn't play.
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.
I don't hate the guy. I don't like the guy. Never met him, don't think I'll ever get the chance. Based on nothing more than hearsay and various ravings....no opinion at all.
If I do meet him, though, I do have exactly one question for him: How's Hawkeye, and the rest of the Crabapple Cove community?
Muskie
(sigh) Not THAT Tuttle! How could you have possibly forgotten Captain Tuttle's heroic death in the Korean war by parachuting into a combat situation sans said parachute?
I hear he was a great guy too...though most folks who knew him seem to have trouble describing him...

I see what you're saying but when you are in a position that represents the company you work for to the public that buys your product-you should be SMART ENOUGH not to say things like he did that enrage the player\fan\buyer base, right?
I agree that prizes create players that take things to the extreme such as prize sharks.
Yet you can't blame the prize support\tourney scene on creating those type of players can we?
They are already created by a capitolistic society that has us all fighting each other for $$ to survive hand to mouth, and paycheck to paycheck.
But that's another topic.
The players that bailed were the ones not that passionate about the game. They were in it either for the prize\glory of winning.
The players that have stuck with it and stayed around with a positive outlook that the game would return were the ones who were passionate about the characters and the game.
I hate prize sharks too-but you take the good with the bad as in everything.
And, wether Tuttle wanted to admit it or not, prize support drove sales which drove profits.
Wasn't HC WizKids best selling game?
So how can they be the worst things around?
Maybe he was just venting but still, in his position you keep your mouth shut and your thoughts to yourself.
We the players on the otherhand can say what we wanna!
90% of the Tuttle hate didn't come from what he did, as much as how he did it or how he said it.
He was not a people oriented person, which is what the Public face of a company needs to be.
He made some unpopular decisions (which may or may not have been good for the game)[chase figs CURSR system, ect], he told a few outright lies[common sculpts will be as good as normal REV sculpts with higher rarities being even better], seemed completely obvious about common things that he should know about [he claimed to have no idea idea what "dial blackening" was and denied it was a problem that needed addressing.
Tarnish
Not meaning to get off topic here, but can someone explain to me what "dial blackening" is?
May all your hits be crits!
