3. expand on an idea that may not take a full release to develope (Green Lantern Corps set)
ideally, they should do 2 out of the three to increase the chance of success (that and make sure quality control standards are in place, as mistakes with 2 or 3 pieces out of a 7 piece set really decrease the perceived value).
I also encourage the Legion of Substitute Heroes set!
I definitely think that "Box Sets" need to have SOME tie to existing properties, or they are going to have trouble selling. So while I may LOVE Indy comics, I'm not surprised that Invincible and Hellboy/BPRD (or IndyClix) did not sell that well....the only IndyClix piece I regularly see is the uber-effective CoV Ghost Widow.
Needless to say, I think that WizKids developed a keen ability to miss opportunities. It doesn't take a marketing genius to figure out that if Marvel or DC is having a summer release that you ought to have a 7-figure set based on that theme as a release to introduce new players to the game. Aside from the first Spider-Man and Infinity Challenge, I don't think there was a MSRP product available for sale that ties in with a movie (either of the Batman or Fantastic Four movies, the Superman remake, any of the X-Men films, the Iron Man film, etc. etc.)

Agreed...this is why I loved the Secret Invasion tie-in (although, truth be told, neither the expansion set or the mega-event really lived up to standards), and why I really think a Blackest Night expansion would be an outstanding idea, regardless of whether one likes the Blackest Night story line or not. I think that Heroclix has an excellent chance of becoming relevant simply due to the source material- super heroes. The influx of comic book movies reflects the popularity of the genre, and to not be tapping into that market is wasted players/revenue.
I've never been a 'gamer' by any stretch. I play video games, but as far as things like RPGs, D&D, Warhammer- not really my cup of tea. I got into this because my brother showed me some figs, and I got hooked because it's superheroes in 3-d on my table. Waging war. I've seen this elsewhere, and it's so true- the game sells itself. Heroclix can survive doing what its been doing- but it could thrive if it put itself out there to the bigger audience.

I would love to see some generic box sets as for what ever reason I think I bought a about 5 or 6 boosters when the set came out then about a year later bought a brick and still did not manage to pull any of the Shield generics.
For what ever reason I seem to never pull any of the generic common figures that I want when sets come out. But will put multiples of a unique.
I am pretty excited about the upcoming set.
I also hope that the new owners will stay with the theme of the set and not include other figures that are not related. For example Armor Wars should have been solely Ironman and his various armors and enemies. They did better in my opinion with later sets.

Gosh, so many ideas to choose from. I'd love to see sets based on The Tick, The Goon, Venture Brothers, and one based on Golden Age comics characters (such as the Project Superpowers characters or old Red Circle characters like The Shield). I wouldn't mind seeing a new City of Heroes set or even one based on the Champions pen and paper RPG or the new MMO. Heck, I'd even buy an Incredibles set if they ever got the licensing.
hey - the Heroes are not the worst sci fi show ever!!! grrr....anyway...thanks for mentioning Automan - I just saw the reruns by Syfy (nee SciFi) a few months ago and I got ticklish pink. I am hoping that Syfy will bring that back again for Marathon.
I want to see Astro City heroes in a set! they were supposed to win if not for Invincibles. grr.
So you hate heroes, but want to see Lou Ferigno's Hulk? The guy would barely be bigger than a moloid. Thing would pick up Ferigno by his scruff!
And Rainbow Brite? I mean Darkest Night? Good lord.
I thought the Heroes set was actually a neat idea to bring heroclix more to a mainstream audience, and with the popularity at the time, it may have worked. Unless the show comes back hardcore, which will be almost impossible now, the box set won't see the light of day.
Completely agree with the Amalgam Set but you forgot my Fave, Speed Demon, Flash Ghost-Rider and Demon, how could you go wrong! Off your Rocker on watchmen unless you were kidding if so, all forgiven. Blackest night, rather than a boxed set might as well do a full run set Zombies and all, so no one is overlooked. Heck you could have it run opposite a Marvel zombies full set and release both on Halloween! Maybe a full run of movie/TV and run under the Indy headline? I like boxed sets but boxed sets hurt when they skip over people.
Were getting singles of Misty & Colleen in the Deadpool Set!

05. Marvel Apes
This was a really, really, really, really terrible idea on Marvel's part... but visually it was very cool (thanks to some great cover images). It probably wouldn't sell as well as a Marvel Zombies set, but I think there would be a lot of interest once players see the figures... really, the Marvel Apes look pretty cool.
Spider-Monkey? Ape-Vengers? Doc Ooktavius? These are the best names Marvel can come up with? Really? This is what the "House of Ideas" has become? Did I mention what a terrible idea this was?
What do you expect when you rip off a DC Annuals idea from a dozen years ago, and claim you got the idea from a fan at a convention?
08. TV Mayhem
There are lots of superheroes on the small screen too, but they may be a little harder to sell. I still wouldn't mind seeing Lou Ferrigno's Hulk, not to mention the entire line in Adam West's campy Batman. It's also easy to expand past the traditional comic book heroes thanks to old favorites like the Powers of Matthew Star, The Secret Powers of Alex Mack, Jake 2.0, and the tron-like Automan. C'mon Wizkids, how about giving me an Limited Edition Greatest American Hero?!?
My dream would be to see boxed sets devoted to certain of my favorite shows of yesteryear!
