No figure is garbage if you know how to play the game tactically
Oh man. I can't count how many times I've seen something like this posted on various game sites. Yes, there are figures that are garbage no matter if you are as smart as Tony Stark. I don't think the Spidey figure is garbage but there are plenty of 1 star figures on here that are. Simply put, they are a waste of points when you could be getting something leagues better.
I think the brick figure is great looking but, ultimately, won't be worth the points. That doesn't mean someone couldn't get enjoyment out of playing it.
Except for the 4 square base, I like the figure. Nothing wrong with the dial, nor the cost of the dial. It's the size of the base that makes him an unwiedly HC figure. If I get one, I'll give it a whirl.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
I like the dial and the sculpt. I do admit that the 2x2 base makes him hard to field but I like these kinds of challenges. Otherwise, he's a strong figure on his own and won't hesitate to play him if I get the chance!
Characters like World's Finest, Clown Prince of Crime, and Spider-Man have no business being on a 4x4 base. I prefer comic accurateness over aesthetics.
I had no idea that putting 2x2 bases on a fig makes them less comic accurate! Wow ... that's amazing.

Neither the greatest nor the worst. Generally speaking, I don't buy display pieces ... not in clix, not in action figures, not in dioramas... I just don't. This piece will see play from me if for no other reason than I am a die-hard Spidey fan. The fact that it has some cool play mechanics built in is just gravy.
However, if you go back and read the WK preview, the attempt here was to include the co-star found in almost every Spidey comic book out there: New York City. Sure, most of Marvel's characters are headquartered or based in NYC, but none of them are so completely tied to the city as Spidey. He swings through man-made canyons and perches atop mountains of steel. The city has defined and influenced his adventures from the very beginning. Try to imagine any of the three movies NOT filmed in NYC. And its a large part of what grounds Spider-man to reality: he doesn't live in fictional places like Gotham City or Metropolis - he's a New Yorker - a common man; one of us. A couple of years ago I went to NYC on business and, looking out on the city from 30 floors up, it was very easy to believe that a man could swing from one side of the city to the other without ever touching ground. I kept expecting that, at any minute, I would see him swinging around one corner headed off to save the city....or stop a purse snatcher.
Think of the WoSM brick fig as a duo fig - Spider-man and NYC. Of course, cities are a little bigger than your average Marvel Team-Up ally, so something a litte grander is called for.
I like it.
Dude, that was beautiful.
Nah, I'm Ok...just got a lil somethin in my eye...(sniffle)
I just love the headline of this thread (and others by the OP). Nothing like touching on both extreme emotions on particular figures.
With that said, I really REALLY do not like this brick figure. I'm not a fan of any 2 x 2 non-colossal figure. That's just way to big of a target for you opponent to hit and too fragile to play meat-shield for the rest of your team.

Meh. I have yet to play most of my Heroclix pieces anyway. If I have one that looks cool that I never get to play, it will be in good company.
I do want something done with the extra size, instead of just creating a dial that could go onto any ol' single base figure. But, yeah. Most people don't use all of their pieces - I certainly don't - so I say, yes, give me pieces that I can play and display. I might not play it, but if it looks good, hey, all the better.
I'm in Providence! I've been out of the hobby, but I'm looking for Saturday gaming. Send me a PM if you know the down-low!
