I find myself coming back to this thread every time there is a new post. As I said before, I didn't know Paul, but I still feel a loss because he was a part of our community. Hearing the stories of those that knew him helps to give me a better of picture of the man he was. From everything I have read so far I can honestly say that I wish I had known him.
I'm using the Hydra avatar in honor of Paul because it seems that it was his favorite team to play. In my line of work we wear a black band over our badges when a brother officer passes away and some of us use the picture of the thin blue line on out Facebook pages to honor and remember those people. I don't think it would such a bad idea to have a similar avatar to honor those in our community that pass away. There were others that were members here that passed away and unfortunately because none of us are immortal Paul will not be the last member that we lose, so I think it would be nice to have something similar.

this ^ After reading all these posts, i find myself wishn I could have had just one game with the man. May he rest in peace.
Hey Ghost, thanks for the kind words. My sons and I were remeniscing about our last game with Paul, which was the February IG turney. Paul and I were facing each other in the final round, he had koed most my team, including my heavy-hitter Darkseid, all I had left was 75thMongul about halfway down his dial, mostly thanks to Gen Ross calling in the airstrike! Paul was down to the good General Ross and 3 SI Lampost Spideys, with which he surrounded Mongul. We went back and forth, rolling and clearing...me slowly whittling away at his troops and Paul without any cares or concerns, needing big numbers and often-times even crip hits, tossing his die and laughing like crazy...when suddenly it was just Mongul and the 3 Spideys, when it occured to me to shout....Hey, I'm surrounded on Spider Island...All you Marvel Spiderman folks will understand! We all just laughed including the onlookers and just had a blast....That was the essence of Paul, simply had a good time and loved the game, really didn't care win or loose...and when ya played him, it rubbed off, ya just had a GOOD time!!!
I was given Paul's lamppost Batman as a keepsake, and I used him tonight with a ton of Feats and the Infinity Gauntlet. Batman ended up on the last click of the Gauntlet...
He proceeded to beat the snot out of both IG Adam Warlock AND Cosmic Spider-Man.
When I got home, Batman was promptly retired, never to be played again. He's now standing in my trophy case with a picture of Paul, and Batman #6. (Paul's last Batman comic.)

That's awesome and a great way to honor him. (Though, wouldn't Paul want you to get your use out of him?)

I had no idea Paul had left us (I don't go to the home page). Wow. I've known Paul for a lot of years now. I think I first met him in St. Louis at one of the old regional-type events. That had to be around Mutant Mayhem?? I've seen Paul many times since... too many to count. GenCon, Clix for the Cure, Wizard World's, etc. I never saw Paul when he wasn't smiling. I never knew him to get upset. He was one of those genuinely good people who enjoyed being with his friends playing clix.
Goodbye Paul. You will be missed.

Wow, this thread got to me. I also didn't know Paul, but he sounded like a good man, which is what I have always tried to be.
Many, many condolences to Paul's family, friends, and Heroclix brethren on your loss. May Paul always roll Critical Hits and pull only Chase figures forever more....
There's a lot of good wisdom here in this thread. Enjoy every day, tell someone you care about them, cherish each game of Heroclix, and much more.
I can only hope that I will be remembered as fondly by my friends (and family of course) when I have left this beautiful planet.
And VGA, you may not see it sometimes, but I'm sure most of the members of HCRealms would miss you. We don't always see eye to eye, that's for sure, but none of us ever want to lose a member of the community, of which we are all a part of, yourself included. I truly hope that you consider us all your friends.
That's the great thing about sharing a bond of some kind, in this case a Heroclix bond. We may not all be neighbors or friends in the traditional sense, but I am proud to be part of the Heroclix community, of which HCRealms is such a huge part of.
I am glad to have discussions with everyone on HCRealms, play Heroclix with my local gang of good guys, and be part of the Heroclix community. I appreciate you all: from the Wizkids company and employees, the HCRealms owners, moderators, and members, to the local player group and venue staff we have here in Melbourne, Florida.
My only regret is that logistically because of distance and time, I can't play a Heroclix game against EACH of you, and that I don't have 1000 more years to live to enjoy OUR Heroclix community.

I just thinking how much fun I had the very last time I played Paul. He pulled Cosmic Hulk in sealed (because of course he did) and played him (because of course he would).
It was such a fun game, and the game ended with both teams completely off the map.
I don't know about everyone else, but I hope whenever someone is reminded of Paul they continue to post in this thread.
Was just looking for something else, kinda saw this thread again and noticed Invisibos more recent post, ended up reading all posts on last page, thought about what Hair 10 and everyone had said, envisioning Paul and what a happy, cheerfull guy he was, had to cry a little again for I sure do miss him. Gotta go find a hankerchief or tissues.
