well seems this thread is still being debated, some food for thought, i post two original decks, clown control and a king of skull servants deck and I can't get ppl to post. for all this arguments of cookies vs originality, no one seems to want to help an original deck

why? I have to ask this. why do we have to find this alternative way to win. you stated that BLS wins. Why change it if it wins. I am at a loss to find your motive behind saying this.

this is true that no one wants to help an origonal deck and i think it is because they don't know how to help them...and after reading this thread and some of its posts i saw that someone made the comment that, and i qoute, "yeah origonal decks are fun, but they just don't win," not ture AT ALL, i can not tell u how many store tourny wins my dark magician deck has won me...but i do like the cookie decks, but the problem is they get so common that all people do is make decks against only that deck.

anyway on to the deck, i am actually on my way of making a deck very similar to this, i just need a BLS-ENVOY... if u know anyone who has one PM me please. i give this deck is a 9/10.

Take a timewalk. Scientist was the surest win condition before. We know UDE doesnt have good staff for all this so they just completely banned / crippled Scientist. But not only did they hurt that decktype, they hurt many other decks. Keep running BLS and they might go nuts and not only ban BLS but restrict Assailant, Shining Angel and sothers as well. because Exodia was doing great they banned Witch, Sangan and Graceful, which crippled most decks. Keep it up and we wont be seeing Chaos monsters for a long time. Its happened in the past and it can happen again.

Well, actually JinzoTheKing, they don't have to spell correctly. They could use as many computer abbreviations for words as they like, but you are the first person who uses those abbreviations as well as doesn't make understandable sentences. There is a difference between good spelling and understandability, and unfortunately, most of your posts fits neither of those categories. I wouldn't have ragged on you if your sentences made sense. But, seeing as they didn't make sense and you attmepted to insult me, I went all out and attacked your poor spelling as well.

People don't type as soon as possible, you excuse for a primate, they type as expeditiously as possible. And even if they do type in a way that is both quick and efficient, thye make sure they people can understand the point behind the what they're posting.

I've taken about 45 minutes to read this ENTIRE thread. I'm laughing pretty hard. CrimsonMagician, I agree with you that constructing an argument and failing to communicate it well does little for one's cause. In fact, I would even say it shows poorly on the person, whoever they may be. JinzoTheKing, I don't care how you spell or whether or not you're grammatically correct. I understand your arguments and I think most of us do. Just as a side-note, it may help your cause to re-read your posts before posting them. As for Cookie-Cutters VS. Originality...

Perhaps I can shed some light on the truth of the state of our game.

Black Luster Soldier - EOTB is a powerful card. There's no disputing that. It can greatly increase your likelyhood of winning. Is it (or it's deck-type for that matter) the only way to win? Of course not. By the way, I don't run a chaos deck. I've tried BLS and I like it, but I traded it away for a lot more than it was worth so that I might try different (semi-original) competitive decks. I would suggest that a deck has some original aspects to it if any of these hold true:

-It has a rarely seen combo or uses a rarely seen monster
-Rarely seen synergies are used
-The duelist has added his or her personal touch to it

Arguably, then, many decks are original. We've all spent our time looking through commons, rares, and our binders in search for new twists. So long as you've done some thinking about your deck (and I mean synergy thinking, not effect thinking), then you have my congratulations (for what it's worth). I'm a true believer that skill has a larger part in this game than most people realize. I'm not talking strictly about how you play your deck, but how you MAKE it. When you make your deck, do you also find the last 5 cards to be the toughest to get right? Those are what I call "Synergy Cards" and of course they vary from deck to deck. Ultimately though, with such similar cards being played, these remaining 5 spots are crucial. They make all the difference, believe it or not.

I'm not saying that everyone has 35 of the same cards in their decks. What I'm saying is that people know what works, it's common knowledge, and they can't be blamed for cards that give them an advantage. BLS, and all other so-called Cookie Cutter Cards are better cards in the right hands. They can be used be so-so duelists and do well, there's no disputing that, but if you play your cards 10% better than a fellow duelist, you'll have a one-card advantage after about 9 turns. Do you play your cards 20% better? That's one card after 4 turns. Do you see where I'm going here? This game consists now, and will always consist of three elements:

-Your cards' ability to give you an advantage (synergy and cookies included here)
-Your ability to create the deck, see synergy and advantage opportunity, AND
-Your ability to play the deck towards the best possible outcome, given the cards that you draw

Any one of these three elements can help you win. If you are lacking in any of these three elements, you will lose in the long run. It's very much, again metaphorically, a three-legged table with a bowl filled to capacity of your lifepoints sitting on top. If you start a duel with one short leg, you have started with less. This can be interpreted many ways and I hope everyone who reads this takes away with them some insight.

In summary, we have many over-played cards and I don't blame a single person for using them. I use them too. Do over-played cards guarantee a victory? No. Do lack of over-played cards guarantee a loss? No. It is the combination of your cards, your deck-building ability, and your dueling skills that will defeat any opponent. To improve your dueling skills, remember that your table will level itself fastest if you focus on lengthening(sp?) your SHORTEST leg.

Tech007, this must be pretty interesting for you to watch. I bet you didn't expect this. My apologies for the longer post. Here are my opinions/fixes to your deck:

-1x Enemy Controller
+1x Book of Moon (You have 2x NoC, abuse them)

-1x Tsukuyomi (not really in your deck-type)
+1x Blade Knight (one more LIGHT)

Dude! Tech 007! You were drunk when you made this deck. First of all, party on! The best thing I ever created when I was drunk was a little house made of chicken wings.

Come to think of it, I did try something like this. My friend gave me a tupperware (I think I spelled that right) of cards and asked me to make a 40 card deck blindfolded. It was sort of a test to see if I had psychic powers (or if there was really a Heart of the Cards). It ended up having 14 monsters (mostly high level) 10 spells (included Dark Hole, Change of Heart and Creature Swap) and 16 traps (included Torrential). I had to go up against his banned format deck. I was able to get him down to about 4000 thanks to CoH. But I better stop my story before Torrentialrx comes back. That guy needs help... or a girlfriend (or boyfriend, personally I never heard a guy whine more in my life).

Deck Rating: 9/10 (you get bonus points for DBUI, Deck Building Under the Influence)

ok now explain to me a few things.

1 if they ban BLS and restrict dd assailant, how would this be a bad thing. it would even out the playing field and we would see more of what you call "originality"

2 why would they ever restrict shining angel.

3 where do get off saying that witch, sangan, and graceful charity were banned because of exodia. they were banned because every deck type used them.

4 the ban of those cards in question 3 didnt cripple any decks. it just showed people that they could build a deck without them.

5 I thought you were for originality, so why wouldnt you want bls banned. I admit it is a very broken card. that is one of the reasons I use it. the other is because I can.

Yugioh attempted to do something MTG did... by making the advanced and tradiational formats.... much as magic has Type 1 and Type 2 decks...

all this talk of originality... what Konami should do... and im sure only 1/2 the people here will agree with me is... (Though this will never ever happen in a million years) is BAN every single card made thus far.... and all the additional new following sets based on diffreent types... i agree with many on this place, saying when they ban soldier, or assailant.. or other cards the game will not change... the people who made yugioh made about 20 or so different types of monsters (aqua, fiend, fairy etc) but ... now..again everyone wont agree with me,... they only make massive support for...spellcasters...fiends... fairys... WARRIORS... machines... and i bvelieve 1-2 more types....

if they dedicated ENTIRE sets to one type... or even 2 per set... the game MIGHT be a better place... its a shame when people get hyped up about a new set because it contains new rock monsters, or new insects... and we get about 5-6 of them... 1-2 decent ones... and the rest never see play... and again.. why do they only make sets that are 50-60 ish cards... if sets were 100 cards ... 50 could be monsters, 25 spells and 25 traps... all involving different types...

they decide to make cards that are tooo cheaply used... now this involves cards like brain control... lightinign vortex... and the like... they made a big step up from raigeki and change of heart... but we go back to the same thing when everyone uses the same cards... its because they should be making cards that should say for exmple...

yugioh is a game that wont die out for a long time... but with all this bickering and online ranting nothing gets done, i sure as h3ll dont see this going on on MTG forums... we need to have places like yugiohrealms to spread ideas... and take them and evolve them.,.. how do you think i made my chaos deck using spys and mobius... now if all this could stop... this ENTIRE thread started when i commented negativly on sum kids deck... not arguing with you in the least bit but then why did you make the comment to tech about how unoriginal this deck is if you think that originality exists quote "in chaos decks and every other deck that runs simular cards?" how do you know that he copied this exact deck from anyone? your "rants" state two completely different things in this thread. they state that any deck that uses the 15 cards you posted are unoriginal. yet you didnt even list all of the cards that are considered staples and even left out some of the more devistating cards (deliquent duo).

then you turn around and say that as long as you are not copying a deck and actually put in some thought towards synergy (which is what we have been trying to tell you from the beginning) that it isnt an unoriginal deck.

1.) I said Im for originality, not for card banning. The more stuff gets banned, thats just another potential combo part gone because of a single decktype. Even when Scientist was going to get banned, despite the fact I hate the decktype, I realize the monster could indeed work in outher fashoins and make a solid deck. I stupidly tried to make a "passive" Scientist that wouldnt be as dangerous as the real deal so its not as aggressive and Konami may consider removing it from the ban list. My deck wasnt going to influence Konami (i realize now) so .... theres something useful gone to the dogs.

2.) Same can be argued for many many cards that went under the cutting knife during the CED ban. MIRAGE?! Come on ... what did Mirage ever do? Its random, for crying out loud. Nobody would have predicted the ban of Witch and Sangan right after Sangan's semi restrict / restrict just a few sets back.

3.) Really? And Pot of Greed, Raigeki and such weren't banned along with them at that time even though 100% of the decks that could afford them had them? Open your eyes. Turbo-Exodia was ruining tourneys at that point, and Exodia was the BLS of its day. Hated. Turbo-Zodia could win almost reliably before turn 3, with its mass abuse of recursion / suicide of those searchers. They got banned bacause the deck abused it too much.

4.) It didnt cripple any deck? Turbo-Zodia for example. And those it didnt ruin, it severly handicapped. Warriors were pimping hard being able to search, reseach and use combo pieces like no-mans-business. It got slowed quite a bit with the loss of those 3.

5.) Read #1. Im for originality, not for banning. People should have the freedom to use whatever card they want. It only gets annoying when people reduce to mindless zombies and use one card because "OMG ITS TEH L33TEST EVA!!111"
Lets show some class. Use the whole cardpool, not just 1 card because hes that great. I can build a realiable deck that will eat BLS up and have no atk power over 1500. Hes great, but the game is about combos, not one-card-centric decks.
