Now that the release is getting some attention I must admit that the figures seem cool. I'll never play SC or HK though and my beloved DF seem to be slipping away. So I'll either quit playing (if DF disapears) or pick a new faction.
I would suggest picking a new faction if you still enjoy playing the game. I did when the Highlanders were announced to be merging into the RoTS(I don't think it's a sound move fluff-wise, so I won't play RoTS, putting all your eggs in one basket type thing, if the Republic fails, the Highlanders might be gone too).
-The merger is only happening game-wise, to free up figures for other factions.
-Go with Nova Cats!
-D503 beat me to that one.
-Halogrunts comment could not be more accurate.
-Finally,
-Gets down on knees, bows before design team-
"Thank you, thank you thank you!" (Not using the MA2 Wendy is the best news I've heard about Annihilation so far)

I suggest you consider HK.
From the looks of it, HK seems far superior to DF for playstyle. HK is very fun to play so far... They may not have a wide variety of units so far, but trust me, they will catch up.
They already have some of the coolest mechs and troops in the game, and the "Samurai dial" of increasing attack and close combat damage makes it worth your while to charge right in.
I'm a SC player right now, with hints of DF. Trust me, I have NO problem trading them in for CNC and HK! The new Houses and Clans have a much more "family" feel to their dials.
You can tell how much control Microsoft has over this lisence, the wendigo doesn't show up anywhere else other than that so called game mechassault which is a mechwarrior or battletech alternative. It is nothing more than a copy of the nova cat.
Isn't the Madcat listed as 100 tons, and the Puma is supposedly a variant of the Cougar?
oooh someone started the Madcat and WizKids fiasco debate up again (ok so you just made a small comment but hey it's a foot in the door :) )
Mad Cat / Timberwolf - 75 Ton CBT design
Mad Cat MkII - 100 Ton CBT design
Mad Cat II - 100 Ton MW : DA design that looks like a Mad Cat / Timberwolf rather than the Mad Cat MK II (so in reality it should really be called Mad Cat Mk II.II)
Mad Cat III - 50-55 Ton MW : DA design (can't remember the exact tonnage of this one but it is a medium Mech)
Cougar was a redesign of the Puma rather than the other way around.

Well seeing as Microsoft own part of the rights to Mechwarrior (they bought FASA) then I would guess the MechAssault TRO had to be included.
Actually in the dossier card of one of the MadCat IIs... (Angus Drummond) It does call it the "MadCat MkII" in the write-up.
Now, yes they look different, but the original MadCat Mk II had Gauss Cannons in its arms, while the MW version trades those for ER Lasers. Which in turn frees up tonnage to upgrade the LRM10s to LRM 15s.
The MW version keeps the Jump Jets of the original, and both the TRO and the dossier comment on how Clan Nova Cat had a bunch.
Given that WizKids is prone to exercise "artistic liscence" with its mechs... I think we can be sure that the Mad Cat II and Mad Cat Mk II are one and the same.
Now... Can we please get another in Nova Cat colors? :nervous:
So which exactly is the Mad Cat II in the MW4 PC game? The one with the angled missile launchers, gauss rifles in the arms, which you can change to cannons, and is jumpjet capable, so you can annoy other players with your jump sniping.
