I wasn't able to buy much sorcery. I had to wait until I got a good deal on it. I'm still behind the curve in the game so to speak, not one pack of Omens since I'm still trying to catch up on Sorcery. Now I don't have a reason to play catchup I guess.
How dare you laugh in the faces of those you once called fellow gamers, because of their disappointment in hearing this. Do you think you are above everyone else here, because you were smart enough to tell that a dieing game was going to die and had to tell everyone about it every chance you got? Way to go, douchebag.
Why do you even care about a game that you quit playing long ago? Do you feel special by (attempting) to put others down? If your life lacking that much that you have to revisit this place and make it look like you had, have, or ever will have some influence on a small sect of gamers?
Well congratulations. You were right all along and everyone here should bow down to the awesome power that is the clairvoyance of 'the Lions.' I see you use that term loosely, because in this very thread, there is (gasp and astonishment!) a Lion who is disappointed along with the rest of the masses.
I hope that some day, another fun game comes out, you start playing it and like it for a short time, then make your presence a headache to those who still enjoy and play the game, instead of nobly stepping aside when you had finished.
For all those who think its just going to be made a better game. They have already decided it will not be a "click" game. This is not an improvement! I for one play the click games because they did not require stat sheets or individual cards or $40. rule books. HOW CAN YOU EVER THINK THAT MAKING MK ANYTHING BUT A CLICK GAME IS GOING TO IMPROOVE IT!!!!!! Gosh I feel like I am shouting at the wind WizKids has not listened to anything we have said. We offered to help promote and improove the game and their answer is to kill it instead.
You cannot put a happy face on this one fellas
To all those who like me have been with the game since day one may our Mage Knight playing days continue reguardless of what the creators say or do.
I too was one of the people who quit mk over 2.0 and I have popped back in periodically to see how things are going. I'd be lying if I didn't say that it didn't give me some small bit of satisfaction to see that I was right. However, I wish I could've been right another way.
Ya know what though? In the time I've been away from MK I've learned something. There are other games out there, fun games that I wouldn't have tried if I hadn't quit MK and fun games that you can tryout for free with your figs, your buddies, and a cold one- (no I don't mean your girlfriend... little joke, see...). If you haven't poked you're head out of the WK fan boy world in a few years, there are some other games you need to play; Zombies!!!!, Settlers of Cattan, Carcassone, the revised Mordheim rule book is still a free pdf download on the Mordheim site, as is I believe, the 100 Kingdoms rule book on the 100 kingdoms site;
Then after you've played something else, ya know what you do? You go back and play MK again because you're experience in other games will inform you're experience in your favorite game. That's because games aren't like monogamy. MK isn't gonna get jeaslous if you play Star Wars, and Star Wars isn't gonna pimp-slap ya down the stairs if you play Starship Troopers and star ship troopers isn't gonna shove your #### out the window if you come home late one night because you spent the night experimenting with the Battle for Maccragge boxed set. The came store is a buffet, my friend, and you are Homer Simpson on ex lax and a blunt. You're not married to the game.
The fun thing about other games is that they teach you that you can still play MK the way you want to play MK. YOU bought the game. YOU decide how to play the game. If YOU want to run a campaign in which there is no pushing and all figs get to move at least once in a turn, then YOU get to do that. IF YOU want to design a campaign blending the rules of PoTSM with MK, It's YOUR game, not Weismann's game, not WK's game. YOUR game. If you love MK, it's still your game.
That's what I lost perspective about at the end of 1.0, and when I lost perspective about that I burned my bridges with people I genuinely enjoyed spending time with and playing against. That's what I regret. In the end, if YOUR game isn't more about the people and the fun than it is about the mechanics and the legality of the pieces, you're gonna lose out, like I did.
If you don't have people to play games with, find people to play games with. Teach you're friends how to play games. You're not a freak who likes strange things. Your a gamer and other people will be gamers once they get past the wierd paraphernalia factor, which isn't that hard.
It's not just the end. It's a new beginning. Seriously.
This is quite sad. I loved this mini game so much. It was just so fun. Having dragons to trolls to dragon men to swamp beasts. My imagination just sorred playin this game. Building terrain & repainting the figures. This was just a fun & exciting game. I will forever keep all my figures from 1.0 & also 2.0. Im sure I can come up with something to do with these figures. I can probably make my game that I have been wanting to for so long. Thats y I got into this game. I wanted to make a game that involved minis & found out about this game b/c I loved the looks of the lil figures & the rest is history. Well, hopefully this site will stay up so we can still chat & all. I have enjoyed this game from beginning to end.
Thanks Wizkids for screwing us gamers over again. I hope u enjoy the rude comments from all of us devoted fans.
When it all comes down to it, this is our game, not some subsidiary of Topps's. We spend the cash on it and forged great friendships (and rivalries) with it. We can do whatever we want with it (provided it isn't a misdemeanor); if we want to play classic MK, MK 2.0, or create some crazy homebrewed rules, we can do it. I'm a bit intrigued by that "Project Barronmore' and might take a look into it. Or if the game looks bad right now, just play something else. The whole "games aren't like monogamy" statement is quite true. Lately I've been trying out other games; while I've been running my MK events, I'd usually play a casual game of Star Wars Miniatures, Anachronism, Spycraft, or even War Machine. I could care less what game I'm playing as long as it's fun.
Though my MK hobby has taken up a lot of my spare time and monetary resources, I don't regret one second of it. I've had a ton of fun attending all-nighters at the comic shop to play in massive free-for-alls, cracking open booster after booster anticipating when Mortis Draconum would finally rear his head, and even set up tournaments for players to compete for cheesy LE figures/styrene cards and bragging rights. Sure, the rules got overhauled quite a bit and all this new #### got thrown around, but I've still enjoyed the time I've spent with MK.
Even though MK may be over in WK's eyes, it will always be around in one form or another. It doesn't have to involve scrounging for the hottest LE or preordering cases of booster packs (or giving WK money). I have to admit that this announcement is somewhat of a relief for me; now I have money for more important things like school and a new car :).l
In the end, MK is whatever we choose it to be. Do we want to give WK another chance with this "new format", hang onto it by playing an older friendlier format (1.0 or 2.0), or do something completely differnt with our stockpiles of plastic (rebase them for other games, make Trick or Treat prizes out of them, fire them out of a cannon, ect.)?
Regardless what your game of choice is, just game on!
Guacamole, I know we have had a lot of negative words between us, but that is in the past. Your post was very insightful, thanks for that.
There are other games out there. I have enjoyed playing Mage Knight and will continue to play the game, but I have also been enjoying Heroscape and Settlers of Cataan. What really matters is enjoying time with your friends, family and acquaintances playing these games. That makes it all worth it.
That was pretty darn childish and beneath you. For that, I hope Hushpuppy is right and this is a ploy and they bring it back just so we can all post "ha,ha, thanks for making our day" right back atcha. Love WK or not, this is a sad day for most of us, even those who haven't played in some time. All of the great games and great people we've been privvy to we owe to this game and, like it or not, this company. So don't say they never gave you anything. I'm sorry now I couldn't make it to Origins to attend the MK funeral/farewell party and comisserate/reminisce with my old e-buddies. Goodbye MK. Thanks for a lot of good times and good memories!
Huhhhh I am very depressed... I played about the time unlimited just came out, and loaded up! I went to tournements and all kinda stuff, I had a great army. I had so many draconums, i liked em alot. I even went to the convention in 2005 and got me a very expencive apocalypse dragon figure. I thought it was the best thing and the game, and it pretty much is, it is huge... IT REALLY SUX THAT THOSE !@#$%^ AT WIZKIDS ARE KILLING OUR GAMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE... is it true they are remaking it after nexus tho?... AHHHH DIE WIZKIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that's truly sad. I was looking forward to see this game on PC bring new player...
But this PC game isnt for me. The things about MK is you leave your computer for a while and have some fun face to face with your friends. They are plenty of really cool game on PC but only few fun mini games.
I will keep playing friendly games with my budies but with no new figures to buy to make new strategy and stuff, its gona turn out borring
really quick.
