Fantastic Four was my primary teamup (and the best), though I've experimented flying solo; didn't see any other good compliments. It's hard to pass up Mr. F on 4 and Dr. Strange on 6; and Invisible Woman does stop certain tactics. X-Factor (and X-Men) lack any good 4-6s (Cyclops is good, but involves you playing 1s, Emma is solid enough, but not technically X-Factor); no tap effect guys on 5 (what is up with that); and Polaris just "doesn't do enough"). Their 2s and 3s are amazing, and they have some great effects (I actually like Mesiah).
I am also feeling as if they 4-6 drops are underwhelming. I don't even run an on team five drop. I think Xavin may be your best bet since he adds +3 defense and a possible +6 defense. I tossed in a shrink and figured i could go for bricking walling as long as I can get a cracking the case.
Doesn't he have energize? I mean beast? In any combat situation, curve against curve, beast is just out right better than cyk. He is more economical in terms of what you have to spend on him to make him work. With cyks its oh I have to have 3 characters on the field or, where is my concussive force and what not....................um I just read the rest of your post guys. He does have energies so while he is defending he pretty much gets a double activate of his effect. The way your putting it to me it seems like you guys think energize works only on the attack or something or am I wrong?

yes he has to activate b4 defending in order to get the double effect.
Wait, so why did you say he doesn't ready off his energize effect? As posted in your previoues post. They attack you, you activate then energize while still in the attack and then ready. Not that difficult to graph, right?

At my HL it was ruled that beast couldn't activate and energize during the attack.... Once the attack is legal energize comes first.....

Somebody at your HL needs a rule refresher...
You can wait for them to declare the attack... before the attack is legal, you activate Beast for his effect. Once the attack is legal, Beast readies and you can do it again.
With his effect, you cannot use it before the attack is legal and then energize because his effect only lasts for the duration of the attack. You cannot, for example, have them attack a ready Beast, exhaust Beast to give him -2/+2, let attack go legal, energize, and activate again to make him 3/10 because his effect says "this attack" and to get the Energize bonus, you'd have to use his effect before defending and, therefore, before the attack. In other words, as D-Block put it, "his effect is only during the attack therefore you can't ready him with energize".
Everyone else is likely thinking of the 2-drop Beast that draws card who is dang good and you all are absolutely right that you can use his effect and then energize.
With the 4-drop, I believe the Bear is wrong. Like they said, the effect is only for the "attack". Just like with any other effect that works "for the attack", you can't play it until the attack is legal.
Sorry... thought you were discussing the 2-drop. Yes, he is amazing.
I actually think Bear is correct. In his example the attack is legal, and the Energize effect is on the chain. You then use Beast's ability (which you can do, because the attack is legal and you're in the middle of it), let that resolve, and then let Energize resolve.
Edit: I just IMed my local judge, the esteemed Eric Lui, and he has confirmed that what Bear outlined is completely legal.
