What will it change for you?
What would you do differently going forward that you do not otherwise intend to do now?
Without hope for the future of Vs. what are you going to do next?
We've all thought about it, but have you decided on it?
I guess the only thing that would change is going to see new cards, traveling to events / seeing friends from the corners of the world I've met and interacted with over the years (maybe things will pan out for a couple more fan-made events), without the future of vs actually it is very timely as this time next year I might not be in a part of the world that would have supported vs anyways.
I've decided that if the game dies I will be a bit depressed. I mean this game has meant more to me as an activity/hobby than ... well, anything else in my entire life. I've spent more than one fifth of my life on these boards. Also ... how long will it be until the traffic of this website dies so much that realmsworx can't afford it anymore? I'll be a donor for another year, but I think that's as much as I would do.
Really, we're more than a bunch of gamers. We're a community, and I care about it. I'd hate for it to, eventually, fall apart. If the game dies, we very well might too.
But so what.

To answer in order:
The answer for if I should giving up all forms of gaming.
Save money to purchase the next set of Vs that is to be released. Have a free Tuesday to spend with my non-gamer friends. Not stay open for 3 hours later than I am schedualed to on Tuesday.
Move onto something more productive, and not continue to be comfortable with this lazy-man attitude.
Yes. Once Vs stops being produced, I am going to try a completely different lifestyle. Most likely(99.9998%) re-join the U.S. Army. See the world.
Frankly, the economy isn't in good shape right now and I know UDE has laid off many employees, even people from the YGO department, which I am pretty sure is the one that makes them the most money. Not a player, but my friend said Wizards announced they aren't going to make Dungeos and Dragons minis anymore. Heard from another friend that some WoW regionals are getting attendance similar to our Hobby Leagues...
With the current state of things, I'd be happy if UDE simply keeps the Hobby Leagues going until things get better, or atleast for another year if they don't. Maybe they could rethink the game while they are at that, consider renegotiating licenses, come up with a fairer set size/rarity relationship, plan out the comic/set timing so we can keep up with the current comic events and movies, consider other marketing tools, etc. Even if there is no announcement in the next few months, both us and UDE can do productive things in the meanwhile, things that invlove Vs and things that don't.
It'd be nice if it did... but do people think Vs will go on forever? I just don't see our base expanding and many people quit eventually, due to family commitments or boredom or whoever knows what else. I don't think the community is keeping up with people leaving for reasons not related to the game by adding enough new players.
I'll buy as many cards as I can until the game dies, but I'm not really prepared to feel like I'm fighting with it any more. I'm happy to pay full price for cards even when I'm not sure if the game's going on, because I anticipate getting a lot of enjoyment out of them even if there's no support at all. My cards aren't going anywhere and my kids are only going to get older, so there's no sense in worrying about that going to waste. I will be building silly decks and playing with the 3-4 people I know that play Vs until I don't feel like it any more.
Does anyone else find that this non-stop teeth-gnashing over the state of the game makes it less... fun? Just spend what you can spend without needing more than packs to open and great cards to admire.
If buying a case means you expect X Y and Z from UDE, then you probably shouldn't be buying a case any more. Their track record is years-long at this point, saying things and not doing them, leaving the future of the game in question, and leaving gaps in the calendar where there is nothing scheduled for any point in the future. They have done this in 2007 and 2008 and they will do it in 2009.
Let's spend more time playing cards and less time worrying about card games of the future. The camaraderie and a lot of the great aspects of playing Vs with people you like are surely existent in other card games. If not there'll be another one down the road someday. These days, you have to buy the most current set to have a competitive deck anyway, so what would the difference be? Really.
but people like wining really shiny things and with "no support" the people who like shiny things cant win anything shiny play vs.. and that would really be a sad day for all the shiny people....

That's it. At the next BotB event I go to, I will supply over 100 foils.
Maybe I'll make it into a pretty poster and get it framed. Would that chase some shiny people interest?

Your post was absolute truth. Thank you for seeing the situation for what it really is.
But remember one thing...
The non-stop teeth gnashers actually have fun WHILE they are complaining. It gives them a small amount of attention, which they can't seem to get any other way. They will always need more than packs, or more than video games, or more than movies, or whatever their constant complaining perspective focuses on. Somehow they feel entitled to gnash their teeth about everything, and they have been trained to live life without being satisfied with anything in it.
The only thing they truly admire is someone who can complain more "effectively" than they do.

I'll see your 100 foils, and raise you another 100 if only cos I'm jealous that you have more hair than me. Let me know when you're heading to an event; if I can't come, I'll send you mine to take with you on my behalf - then you can cherry-pick and say that you provided all the prime ones, and I provided all the crap ;)

First off, #### off.
Second off, can you name a single person on here who constantly complains? You seem to complain about the complainers a whole hell of a lot so you should know.
It's a way of venting. We've seen the game go from a million dollar pro circuit to three major tournaments in a six months with two sets a year to no DC being in the game. And at the first hint that anybody wants some answers about what might show up in the future, you get up in arms about it.
This is a forum about the game. We're aloud to discuss whatever we want about the game, good AND bad. No matter how much you dislike it, there are some people who just want answers. Nobody is badmouthing the game, we just want a small glimmer of hope that:
a) There will be more sets
b) There will be more tournaments and
c) DC will be back but if this isn't the case, we just want them to be honest with us.
But do I expect an announcement? Judging from how much UD corporate wants the game to fail, I certainly don't.
I actually feel bad for TBS though. I've got a feeling that he really wants to talk to us about this stuff....good, bad, whatever, but his hands are tied.
Is that going to keep me from saying that UDE is a terrible company and that they've made more mistakes with game than I can count?
