If Doom ignored characters for LOF, it would read "Improved Targeting: Ignores Characters"
Doom's says
Quote
TARGETING: Hindering. This character can make range attacks while adjacent to opposing characters. (May target adjacent or non-adjacent opposing characters.)
Two nice things here.
1. I can base you with a thug and you can opt to ignore the thug and shoot someone else. (as long as you still have LOF to that someone else)
2. You can use ranged powers, like his Psychic Blast, against an adjacent figure.
Students:
Tim 2 -nothing
Clea 1 -nothing
Demogoblin 4- Enhance or Empower
Vampire 4- Enhance or Empower
Loki: 1: Opposing characters modify defense +1. Ew
Etrigan replaces Terror. Perplexes his AV to 12, attacks Beast. DV17 +1, gets 5 and I can't PC that
Clea Outwits Rocket's PC
Green GOblin HSS to H12 on ROcket, AV9 on DV18 +1. Gets 7. Won't PC that one. Goblin ends with a Sidestep to K14
From there he Perplexes Rocket's DV -1, cancelling out Loki's roll
Tim moves to H16
Loki brings in the Batgirl card.
Batgirl HSS to G10 on Rocket, AV11 on DV18. Gest 5. Loki makes it 6. Break? 1. No matter really.
Tim copies Loki's powers.
Clea on Rocket, AV11 on DV18 +1. Gets 7. Tim makes it 9. SS is 2. 3 to Rocket.
Demogoblin RS to F14 on ROcket, AV11 on DV17 +1. Gets 5.
Tim will use the DV or Loki or Clea, whichever is better, should any attacks come targeting him.
3 to Rocket and his PC is Outwitted.

"Men with swords I've fought and slew, but an ape with a brain, that is something new," Etrigan said, choosing the Beat over the Swordsman as his target.
"Your verse is execrable," the Beast said, dodging the Demon's claws. "I prefer Wordsworth."
"Yes, very nice. When you're done discussing poetry, I could use a little help here," Rocket said, being the target of several opposing attacks.
"I am NOT a..." Rocket began to protest, until Demogoblin's pumpkin bombs hit, which shut him up.
"Tell me, Swordsman," Clea asked. "What good is a sword against magic?"
"I may not stop your spell, but if I can get to you my sword will do plenty."
"I doubt your sword could hurt me much, but the girl's, that one is painful to touch. I need no swords to enter this fight, but you'd best beware the Demon's bite!" With that, Etrigan pounced on Magik, his teeth penetrating her magic armor.
So Magik was on her last click. I'll grant that her Steal Energy can counter Etrigan's Mystics, but she also needs to roll for her Trait, and that could potentially KO her and leave you needing another replacement

THE DARKCHYLDE, I'M TRYING TO FIGHT IT: Steal Energy. When Magik KO's an opposing character, after resolutions roll a d6. 1-4: Deal her 1 unavoidable damage.
I think we both tend to forget that second part of the trait exists. I only saw it because I went to check if she had Steal Energy.
